Samsung’s wildly popular Note line up of phones is looking to get a refresh later this year in August or September at IFA in Berlin, if the company stays with it’s trends from previous years.
Information and rumours surrounding the Galaxy Note 4 have been circulating since early this week when GSMArena managed to get a hold of a document with the purported Galaxy Note 4 specifications. The document refers to the device as “Muscat” with the model number SM-N910. The document states the phablet is supposed to come with a 5.7-inch display with a 1440p display giving the Galaxy Note 4 a density of 515ppi. This would mean that the phone’s display would be really crisp and sharp, even sharper than the Galaxy S5. Given the tendencies of the manufacturer to increase its displays on Note line-up by 0.2 inches with each iteration, this seems quite odd – could they have finally found a sweet spot for the display or could they be looking at increasing the size of the display soon? GSMArena believes that Samsung could potentially increase the size of the Galaxy Note 4’s to 5.9 inches.
The device is rumoured to come with a three sided YOUM-display which could lend itself to the “unique form factor” teased by the company’s executive Yoon Han-kil in an interview earlier this month. The unique display form factor may lend itself to new features such as viewing notifications on the side of the device. Also rumoured are new software features such as the “Swipe to Launch Motion Launcher” which is rumoured to mimic the HTC One M8, allowing users to launch apps such as the camera or other apps when the display is off. Other software features which hit the rumour-mill include an “Aqua Capture” feature which points to the device being waterproof and is expected to increase camera performance under water. A more refined take on the fingerprint scanner seen in the Galaxy S5 is expected to appear on the Galaxy Note 4 with the “Smart Fingerprint” feature – possibly with more robust features and better implementation. The Galaxy Note 4 is also expected to come with better connectivity with the rumoured “Multi Network for Booster” expected to be an enhancement to the Booster on the Galaxy S5 which uses WiFi and Mobile Connectivity to boost download speeds of large files.
With the expected launch date of the Galaxy Note 4 months away, we can expect even more rumour and leaks in the upcoming weeks. The recent leaks have piqued our interest.
