Samsung is raising flip phones back from the dead with its own Galaxy Golden 2.
The flip phone was all the rage not too long ago with some memorable models such as the Moto Razr being on the top of everyone’s wishlist. However, as all things tech, its popularity began to wane and made way for the candybar shaped smartphones. The nostalgia remains however and Samsung is looking to bring back fond memories with its own reiteration of the flip phone in the Galaxy Golden 2.
Do not be fooled though, the Galaxy Golden 2 is no relic in terms of specifications. It features dual 3.9-inch Super AMOLED 1280×768 displays, one on the front and one on the inside. It is powered by a quad core 2.5 GHz Snapdragon 801 processor with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The cameras are 13MP rear facing and 3.7MP front facing.
The Galaxy Golden 2 has just received certification from China’s TENAA, a telecommunication device certification centre, and its availability may be restricted to only that country. Nevertheless, in today’s mobile device market of very limited imagination, it is nice to get a throwback to the old school designs, or as some may say, old is gold.
