HTC has been on a roll these days with announcement and leaks of new devices like their One M8 Eye. While the One M8 Eye is just a One M8 with a different “normal” 13-Megapixel camera, there is a standalone product from HTC that will be called the RE Camera. Can we buy it? Is it available in the market? Not yet. But from what HTC is doing for the RE Camera device, it looks like we will know soon, as in tomorrow “soon”. The HTC RE Camera site just plainly shows a video with the logo “RE” on it touting a 8th October, 2014 date; HTC’s “double exposure” event. Presumably the date indicates the launch of the camera device they want to introduce, and yes it will be a camera quite obviously.
The HTC RE Camera is basically, well a camera. But what is interesting is that this is going to be a stand-alone type of camera very much like a GoPro camera with less focus of sports or extreme activities. It still will have features like waterproof and shock resistance judging by the teaser video. From what we can see through teaser video also that it could have an adjustable mount for just about anything; a backpack, a bicycle for example. It does look also like it can stand on its own through these videos though angles may not be adjustable.
How it will work is still a question mark that is hopefully answered by tomorrow. What we know is that the HTC RE Camera rumoured to come with a 16-Megapixel sensor that can record at 720p, equipped with Wide-Angle lens, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi. So unlike the GoPro which focuses on video graphing what you love to do outdoors, this looks to focus more on taking photos and is looking to be a “selfie” centric camera. So for those of you “selfie” addicts out there, check this space tomorrow for some more information.
