eBay, one of the world’s leading online shopping sites recently found out they had a security breach. To be specific they only found out they’ve been hacked two weeks ago while the hack started somewhere between late February to early March. In response to this recent breach eBay would be requesting all 112 million of their users to reset and change their password to prevent further risks. According to eBay the breach has compromised the encrypted passwords which might allow the hackers to obtain information such as name, email, address, phone number, date of birth and such. They assured however the breach does not include PayPal as they are a separate entity with higher encryption levels kept in a separate network as well to protect users’ details such as credit card information. In the wake of the attack, eBay also reminded users to reset passwords in other websites if their using the same password. Are you an eBay user? If you are, do listen to their advice and take them seriously.
