Okay the title might be a little bit misleading. But hey it got you here. Now that you are here, we were invited to AkzoNobel’s Dulux buka puasa event cum their new app launch. When we say new, it has existed in both Android and Apple devices for some time now but this time they have just updated their Dulux Visualizer app to version 3.0.
So what is new with the Dulux Visualizer 3.0? With the trend of augmented reality coming into play with so much these days Dulux did not miss out with the Visualizer. This app is now an augmented reality app that could be used to virtually paint a room, or wall for example. The app is pre-loaded with the most updated colour pallet available in Dulux’s vast selections which allows you as a user to virtually paint your home, or room in any colour imaginable. You can even find Dulux’s closest colour match to you favourite t-shirt colour if you wish so to paint your room in that same colour. This app also allows you to either take a picture or video depending on your liking for your own reference or even share it on social media to ask your friends and family to comment or feedback on what they think of your new room colour. Once you have decided on the colour that you want, the app even helps you find the nearest store for you to purchase the exact paint you need. Neat.
So the app does not help you visualize your dream home like the title suggests, but hey it still visualizes your ideal colour scheme inside and outside of your home. AkzoNobel did announce that they are looking to penetrate 40 more markets globally with this app. The free Dulux Visualizer app is currently available on Android’s Google Play store here, and Apple iOS’ App Store here. Press release after the break.

Kuala Lumpur, 24 June 2016 – AkzoNobel, the leading paints and coatings company and producer of Dulux paints today launched the new version of its Dulux Visualizer app during a Buka Puasa event held at One World Hotel. The Visualizer app created for iOS and Android is a pioneering app that uses innovative technology to help consumers see, share and paint in their chosen colours in real time.
Now with newly added features of taking videos, consumers can capture a video of their walls and experiment with hundreds of different colours that would suit their wall. If consumers see a colour somewhere that inspires them, the ingenious Colour Picker technology can be used to instantly match and try it out.
The award-winning app uses cutting-edge technology (augmented reality and video visualization) to show colours in a room in real time. Launched in May 2014 and has been downloaded over 10 million times, this new version will be rolled out in over 40 markets this year, starting with the Netherlands, Turkey, France, India, Indonesia, Argentina, and Russia.
Once consumers have found a colour of their choice, they can either purchase their paint or find a store closest to them via the store locator function in the app. Finally, if consumers are second guessing their choice of colour, they can upload their chosen colour on social media and share it with family and friends to get a second opinion on the chosen colour.
