When the Google Glass was introduced and first released, it was a tech landmark and its possibilities were endless.
It seems now even the law enforcements might think of utilizing this gadget. It may be the gadget that effectively combats crime rates. And which police force actually might bring this direct crossover of the law and tech worlds?
Gulf News reported that the Dubai Police Smart Services Department recently informed them that it wants to release Google Glass into the field to aid the performance of its officers. What exactly will it help the officers do? For now, the department says that the device will be used ‘to issue fines to errant motorists as well as identify wanted cars.’
Once again, this is in my opinion, a small break through to range of infinities that the Google Glass could actually help the police with. The Dubai Department has yet to release a date when it will initiate this project.
There is however, still a big hurdle to overcome. The device is currently still available online only in America for now. This implies that the police department will have to come over to the US to purchase the Google Glass which is still a huge amount of money. If so, this project will definitely will be breaking the bank for the department. Nevertheless, the department has still already started developing special applications for use of the gadget. It explained to Gulf News that ‘one [app] will allow them to take photos of traffic violations from the Glass, which will go instantly into our system, and the other application helps identify unwanted cars.’
