Wearables have been a central figure for 2014 with a variety of smartwatches and fitness bands released. Bout of course, variety is the spice of life and another wearable category will be more than a welcome addition. Enter the Cicret bracelet.
There is more than meets the eye with the Cicret, as it is capable of functioning like a tablet or smartphone by projecting an interface on your arm. The device features a pico projector that, with a tap of the bracelet, can project a fully interactive user interface on your skin. Thanks to 8 long range sensors, the Cicret will pick up your taps and gestures on the projected interface, even when you’re taking a shower! More importantly, it is compatible with Android and has the specs to run it well too. You also have the option of running it as a standalone or even syncing it with your iPhone.
The Cicret is still in its developmental stages and the brains behind it are still in the process of raising funds. They are taking a different approach to this as they are staying away from crowdfunding sites, primarily because they cannot give guarantees on the device’s performance and availability to consumers as of yet. Instead, they are accepting donations of any amount on their website. On it they state that they require 700 000 euros to complete the first prototype of Cicret and also a further 300 000 to develop the Cicret app for all platforms. The app is unrelated to the bracelet and serves as messaging app with a secure data transfer service. The Cicret app is available for Android now.
It is great to see more innovation coming from the wearables category and from the looks of the Cicret, it is definitely worth the wait.
