Roborock is no stranger to the Malaysian market when it comes to robot vacuums. The company has had its Shopee and Lazada storefronts for the longest time. Now, the company is adding even more to their online storefronts with the launch of a brand new lineup of robot vacuums looking to make everyday cleaning even more of a breeze.
Roborock’s S8 lineup of robot vacuums brings even more features and smarter AI features to the table. Coming in with three models at different prices, the S8 line has a robot vacuum that is perfect for anyone.
The Roborock S8 comes with improvements to the base vacuum with Roborock including dual rubber roller brushes which improve dust pickup. The new dual roller system is even able to pick up matted items like animal fur or hair which should be a welcomed upgrade for pet owners.
The new VibraRise 2.0 mopping system available on the S8+ and the S8 Pro Ultra helps get rid of stubborn stains. This is accomplished as the mopping utility of the vacuum vibrates at 3,000 times per minute. The intense vibration helps break down stains and remove them.
The top-of-the-line S8 Pro Ultra comes with additional features such as two different vibration modes for better cleaning. However, the mainstay of this vacuum is the RockDock Ultra system which comes in the box. This system allows users to have a worry-free experience when it comes to the robot vacuum. The RockDock Ultra allows users to automate and forget as it comes with automatic mop cleaning, dust emptying and water tank refilling. The dock also comes with warm air drying that helps ensure that the mopping pad doesn’t develop rank smells.
Together with the S8 series, Roborock also showed off their cordless wet and dry vacuum – the Dyad Pro. The Dyad comes with a dual roller system which allows users to mop and vacuum simultaneously. It comes with improved edge-to-edge cleaning and the new RevoBrush self-cleaning and drying system. It’s also smarter than other vacuums with its DirTect Smart sensor which allows it to adapt to different cleaning situations.
Pricing & Availability
The Roborock S8 series will be available in stores and on Shopee and Lazada. The S8 will be priced at MYR 2,699, the S8+ at MYR3,999 and the S8 Pro Ultra at MYR5,599.
There are few things we look forward to every year. You have the usual flagship smartphone launches, including the iPhone launch and Samsung’s two Unpacked events every year. In terms of gaming, we have the E3. The E3 showcase that has been happening every year for a long time now and it is a gathering of every major game developers and even some minor ones that has been cherry picked by the likes of Sony PlayStation and Microsoft Xbox to chow case their upcoming games on the big stage. Before YouTube, E3 was the only stage you get to premiere your games to the world.
There is a problem with E3 however. Ever since the pandemic hit the world, the E3 conference has stood on quite unstable grounds. While there are still parties keen on attending and make good on the show that is E3, there have been several occasions where big names opted out of the conference. They even had to cancel in 2021 and 2022. This year, Ubisoft has opted out of E3.
Ubisoft’s absence in E3 2023 will undoubtedly be felt. Ubisoft at this point is one of the largest game developers the world has seen. They own namesakes like Assassin’s Creed, Ghost Recon, ANNO, Far Cry, and more. They own enough IP that they have to have their own curated game store separate from Epic Games, and Steam. They are one of those giants in the gaming industry then that will have no presence in E3 2023 scheduled in June.
That does not mean that Ubisoft will not be producing or publishing any games for 2023 though. It does not mean that they have nothing new to show the world too in 2023. In light of them being absent from E3 2023 for whatever reason, they are also hosting their own show in June 2023. They scheduled their Ubisoft Forward Live showcase on the 12th of June 2023 in Los Angeles.
For the upcoming show, we are expecting Ubisoft to show a little more from their latest announced Assassin’s Creed title, Assassin’s Creed Mirage. We are also expecting Ubisoft to have at least a few more announcements in their other titles and probably introduce new titles in the upcoming show. It would only make sense for them to have a few more on tap to have an entire showcase of their own.
HUAWEI was, at some point, one of the most popular Android smartphone maker in the world. At that point as well, we would recommend one in a heartbeat. Why would we not? They offer some of the best value for your money, feature some of the most interesting innovation in smartphones, and they were great to daily drive. That is until the Trump administration in the United States (US) decided to paint some unpleasant light on HUAWEI and banned the Chinese giant from doing business with American entities. That means HUAWEI loses direct access to Google’s Android and Play Store.
It does not mean that they are out of the game though. They innovated once more for their own survival. They launched HarmonyOS for their smartphones and their tablet products. They still had Microsoft’s Windows to work with for their PC products, so there is that. But not having Google’s Play Store has crippled them plenty in their global appeal.
They just launched the HUAWEI P60 series, their smartphone photography flagship. The P series, since the P9, has always offered some of the best camera experience on any smartphone. They were also the first smartphone maker to rope in a camera maker, Leica at the time, to help develop the camera system. That opened the floodgates for plenty more collaborations for other manufacturers.
On top of a whole world of collaboration opportunities, HUAWEI’s collaboration with Leica breathes new life in smartphone photography. You get better photos than ever, better portraits, better image quality, and even more flexibility in terms of the photos and videos you capture. The P60 still embodies all of that in their DNA.
HUAWEI P60 Pro
Their top-of-the-line P series for 2023 is the P60 Pro. For the first time ever, HUAWEI’s P series flagship features Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 system on a chip (SoC). Due to trade restrictions, the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 is not 5G enabled, which means you are stuck to 4G LTE connectivity with the HUAWEI P60 Pro. While it is also a slightly older processor compared to what you get today with other modern flagships, it is still a powerful processor at its core.
Alongside up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, the SoC drives HUAWEI’s HarmonyOS 3.1/EMUI 13.1 along on its 6.67-inch OLED display. The OLED panel offers 2,700 by 1,220 pixels, which is not exactly QHD, yet more than Full HD. It refreshes at up to 120Hz though, which is always a nice thing to have.
The highlight of the device, or rather, the thing that stands out the most on the device is its main camera at the back. It is a 48-Megapixel sensor that lies behind a wide-angle lens. It sits in between a 48-Megapixel telephoto camera and a 13-Megapixel Ultra-wide shooter. It is still the same RYYB sensor that HUAWEI claims to offer more natural and accurate colour reproduction and even more light than the regular RGB sensor. There is also a 13-Megapixel front-facing camera up front for decent selfies or video calls with MeeTime.
Within the IP68 rated construction is a large 4,815mAh battery to keep the HUAWEI P60 Pro running all day and probably even more. If you ever need to charge, the battery is capable of up to 88W in HUAWEI SuperCharge speeds, just so that you can get going again in an hour. If you prefer to wirelessly charge your smartphone, it still charges at up to 50W speeds.
HUAWEI P60
Moving down the scale, the regular HUAWEI P60 should be the more accessible option in the P60 series. That does not mean that they are compromised.
The HUAWEI P60 still comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen1. It offers less in terms of memory and storage though, at 8GB and 256GB respectively. That is still enough to keep the HarmonyOS 3.1/EMUI 13.1 smoothly though. You also get the same 6.67-inch LTPO OLED display offering the same 120Hz refresh rate and even the same resolution.
Out the back, you still get a 48-Megapixel main shooter with RYYB sensor behind a 24mm wide angle lens. Instead of a 48-Megapixel telephoto shooter, you get a 12-Megapixel telephoto camera alongside a 13-Megapixel ultra-wide camera. Up front, you also get a 13-Megapixel selfie camera.
You even get the same battery. The only difference between this one and the Pro variant is in its charging speeds. You get up to 66W in HUAWEI SuperCharge speeds, which is still plenty fast to keep your device charged before you leave. You still can wirelessly charge your P60 at 50W speeds.
HUAWEI P60 Art
Then launched a very interesting ‘special edition’ P60 Art. It offers a slightly different design language too, some extra angles there and here. They are also offered in different special colour options – Azure Blue, and Seashore Gold.
Hardware wise, everything is similar to the HUAWEI P60 Pro. The difference can be found in the back. No, it is not a higher resolution main camera. It is still a 48-Megapixel RYYB main camera. What is different is tat you get a high-resolution 40-Megapixel ultra-wide camera over the 13-Megapixel you get on the Pro variant. You get to choose to get a larger storage for your device too, at up to 1TB. The battery is also larger at 5,100mAh with up to 88W in charging speeds.
Should You Pay Attention to the HUAWEI P60 Series?
This is a more complex question than it seems. On the one hand, we want to say that the HUAWEI P60 series could be an important smartphone for the industry as a whole. On the other, we still would not recommend it to anyone who are looking for a smartphone at this time because it still does not feature Google Play Store out of the box. We do not doubt that the HUAWEI P60 series smartphones will be brilliant smartphones on their own, even without Google Play Store, we just do not think that it is quite relevant in the world dominated by Google’s apps.
Alongside the HUAWEI Mate 50 series, this features an international spec Qualcomm SoC in the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. While the caveat is that you do not get 5G to go along with it, it marks an important stage in HUAWEI’s development journey. They have dialed back on HiSilicon, their own in-house silicon manufacturers. While the Kirin has lived on and been found on HUAWEI’s lower end devices, they have transitioned to Qualcomm for their higher profile devices.
It is an indication that HUAWEI still wants to keep its global smartphone appeal and wants to continue selling their smartphones in the larger global market. Either that, or they are dialing back on their silicon manufacturing and development, which would also reduce their expenses. It could also be a small indication that HUAWEI is finding back its footing into the international marketplace. While there is no guarantee that HUAWEI might adopt Google Play Store in the near future, the transition to Qualcomm’s chips is a good indication that there is a small chance that HUAWEI might still bounce back into the Google ecosystem and become one of the most appealing devices in the Android marketplace.
In that sense, HUAWEI’s upcoming P60 series flagship is something you might want to pay attention to. No, we are not asking you to buy one, far from that. While the device is a marginal improvement over the P50 series in terms of hardware, it could be an important turning point for HUAWEI moving forward. We would be looking forward to the day that HUAWEI earns its place back among the best of Android manufacturers. It is not only about having another option, it is because we thought their devices were genuinely great.

PUBG Mobile has proven to be some of the most popular mobile game to date in the Southeast Asian region at least. It is not like they have no competition in the region as well. We saw entry from games like Free Fire, and the surge of players moving to Call of Duty Mobile, all employing the Battle Royale genre. To be fair, alongside Fortnite, PUBG Mobile is the pioneer of Battle Royale style game in the mobile gaming space.
There is also a reason to why PUBG Mobile has stayed on top of their game for so long. Within the game, players can explore a plethora of customizations for their characters. The more they play, the more customization option they get for their in-game characters. Tencent has also sort of localized the game to include region special customization option. One such new option is the ‘Nasi Lemak’ kit.
If you are reading this from other parts of the world, ‘Nasi Lemak’ is a local delicacy made from aromatic rice, an egg (either fried or hard-boiled), peanuts and anchovies on the side, and topped with a good amount of spicy ‘Sambal’ sauce served on top of a piece of banana leaf. Over the years, Malaysia’s obsession with this local delicacy has inspired many creations like ‘Nasi Lemak’ ice cream, and ‘Nasi Lemak’ burger. Those are still foods. The one in the game is a little different.
Instead of a free ‘Nasi Lemak’ pack, you get to adorn your character in the Ramadan special skins. They have introduced the Nasi Lemak Suit that comprises of a banana leaf jacket, coconut rice T-shirt, ‘ikan bilis’ (anchovies) necklace, and peanut bracelet. To spice up your character, there is also a ‘Nasi Lemak’ hat that actually looks like a plate of ‘Nasi Lemak’ with fried egg and spiced fried chicken topping on your head. To complete the entire ‘Nasi Lemak’ look, there is a pair of glasses made up of cucumber slices as lenses. No, the banana leaf jacket and coconut rice T-shirt does not add any protection to your character. The cucumber lenses looks cool, but does not offer additional stats to your character too, but it might be useful in the scorching sun of PUBG Mobile’s various maps. The ‘ikan bilis’ necklace and peanut bracelet cannot be eaten too to heal your character, unfortunately. You might get some laughs from your suit too, but that is the point of playing games with your friends. Oh yes, you might stand out a little bit in the game.
Alongside the local delicacy that is ‘Nasi Lemak’, PUBG Mobile is also featuring another local delicacy into the game as a weapon. They call it the ‘Roti John Machete’, a famous omelette sandwich topped with onions, cabbages, ground meat, and various sauces. It resembles a huge sandwich from Subway in the game and it works like a basic machete within the game. No, it is does not work as such in real life too, it is not that sharp. If you are a foreigner visiting Malaysia, you might want to try ‘Roti John’ in your supper adventures in Malaysia.
Players can redeem the Nasi Lemak set for free when they participate in a time-limited in-game event. Look for Nasi Lemak-Tapau All! Event anytime between now all the way to the 29th of March 2023. The event will require you to complete several Ramadan missions to redeem the full set of ‘Nasi Lemak’ gears.

Samsung launched their new Mid-Range smartphone just very recently. They launched the Samsung Galaxy A34 and Galaxy A54 last week. Just a few days later, they launched another smartphone, but only for the Middle-Sea market. It is pretty much a Samsung Galaxy A54 5G but made a little different.
The M54 5G is slightly bigger than the A54 5G. It packs a 6.7-inch display where the A54 settles with a 6.4-inch one. It is also a Super AMOLED display with Full HD+ output still. It also still offers 120Hz. It also comes with Samsung’s own Exynos 1380 octa-core processor with up to 8GB or RAM and 256GB of internal storage. If you feel like the storage is a little small, you can even expand it to up to 1TB via a microSD card.
Like the A54 5G, the Galaxy M54 5G also comes with Samsung’s latest Android 13 based One UI 5.1. It still packs a side-mounted fingerprint reader that doubles as a power button. You still can find the same Gorilla Glass 5 protecting the Super AMOLED up front. This is where the similarities end.
First of all, the Galaxy M54 5G does not come with IP67 water and dust resistance rating. You also do not get a 50-Megapixel main camera that the A54 5G has. Instead, you get an extravagant 108-Megapixel main camera supported by an 8-Megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 2-Megapixel macro camera. There is a 32-Megapixel camera out the front still. Instead of a 5,000 mAh battery as well, you get a massive 6,000mAh battery to keep not just the Galaxy M54 5G running all day. You can technically keep any other smartphone you have running all day too with the large battery from the Galaxy M54 5G.
There are no confirmed prices for the Samsung Galaxy M54 5G currently. There are no confirmations as well on its availability in Middle East or any other Asian countries. We are expecting the device to not only be available in Middle East though, we are expecting India to get the same Galaxy M54 5G treatment.
Nothing does it again and launched their own set of wireless earbuds, the Nothing Ear (2). This one picks up from the first, Ear (1) wireless headphones. It is even priced the same as the previous earbuds at MYR 599.
Right out of the gate, you can tell that this will be a better pair of earphones than before. It boasts Hi-Res Audio certification where the previous one did not. It also packs LHDC 5.0 technology for an even better near lossless audio experience with the Ear (2). There is also an app now, the Nothing X app, to even fine tune the earphones to your ears.
You still get an 11.6mm Dynamic driver inside the earphones. It is one of the bigger drivers you can find on a modern earphone. The large driver could mean that you might get punchier audio from the earphones. That driver is also housed in a new dual-chamber design that is meant to improve acoustics and airflow within the earphone’s case.
Like the Ear (1), it comes with Noise Cancelling technology. Unlike the Hybrid Noise Cancelling technology you find in the first Nothing Ear, the Ear (2) features a personalized and adaptive Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) technology that offers better noise isolation and cancelling than before cancelling up to 40dB of noise. The mics also pick up ambient noise better than before.
Alongside the new noise cancelling technology, the Nothing Ear (2) also now features Dual Connection for you to easily connect and switch between two devices simultaneously and quickly. Of course, it has the new Fast Pair/Swift Pair technology that most modern wireless earphones offer today. The new mic algorithm with three high-definition mics and Clear Voice Technology is meant to pick up your voice better than before for crystal clear calls.
Where the previous earphones offer up to 24 hours of continuous listening experience with ANC turned on, the Nothing Ear (2) offers up to 22.5 hours with ANC on. With each charge, the Nothing Ear (2) offers 4 hours of listening experience at a time, which is also about an hour less than its predecessor. While that might seem to be a downgrade, you do want to remember that the Nothing Ear (2) is more feature packed than ever, which might be why its batteries lasts a little shorter than before.
You get better hardware installation than before too. Where the previous earphones offer IPX4 water resistance, the new Ear (2) offers IP54 water and dust resistance. The charging case offers IP55 water and dust resistance so you can keep the Ear (2) safe in the case.
The Nothing Ear (2) is now available from all authorised dealers and resellers in Malaysia. There are no colour options available, just the plain white and transparent option you see. As mentioned, it will set you back MYR 599. More on the Nothing Ear (2) can be found on their website.
Last year WhatsApp tested and later launched their new Communities feature for all WhatsApp users. If you have not found out or familiar with Communities, it is a powerful management tool sitting within WhatsApp to manage all your groups in one place. You can, as admin of multiple groups create a Community, a group of groups for you to manage and access in a single place. You can, as an admin, make a community wide broadcast message, create targeted messages for select groups, and even moderate chats within the group. Of course, WhatsApp will not just stop there.
WhatsApp has added an important privacy control for group admins. Group admins can now decide if a person is worthy of joining the group or not. For Communities users, the admin can choose if a particular individual can join any of the groups within the community or not. Of course, the feature is not just limited to Communities users. They can also still send invite links to people they want in the group. If they do not want a particular person in the group for any longer, they still can kick relevant members out of the groups.
That is not to say that plain members within a community has no added features or benefits for themselves. WhatsApp has added a way to find other members that is in the same groups as you are. It works both ways too, you can find out which members are in the same groups as you are. You can also use the function to find groups through these common contacts, in case you forgot which groups are which. It is important, since the dependency on WhatsApp and Groups within Communities are much bigger than before now.
You might not be seeing the function rolling out to your app today. WhatsApp says that they are rolling the update to users in the coming weeks in stages. If you are interested in getting the best out of your Groups, you want to keep checking your app updates regularly. To know more about the new functions WhatsApp is adding to the app, you can always head out to their blog.

AI (Artificial Intelligence) generated graphics is not a new thing. You have things like OpenArt and Hotpot these days where you can just type in the keywords to the image you want, and let the engine generate art for your use. Even before AI generated graphics though, the implementation of AI within the creative industry is nothing new. NVIDIA has used their own AI engine to write an entire symphony, and even to create 3D environments using their Ray Tracing engines. Adobe too have something they call the Sensei. They the AI tool is implemented across their creative suite to understand and recognise objects better, fill details where needed more naturally, and even edit videos, images, or even texts quickly and efficiently. Now, they have Firefly.
Firefly is not a new separate AI system from Adobe’s Sensei. Firefly is a part of a larger Adobe Sensei generative AI together with technologies like Neural Filters, Content Aware Fill, Attribution AI, and Liquid mode implemented across several Adobe platforms. Unlike those platform specific implementations though, Adobe is looking to put Firefly to work on a number of various platforms across their Creative Cloud, Document Cloud, Experience Cloud, and even their Adobe Express platforms.
So, what is Adobe Firefly? We hear you ask. It is technically Adobe’s take on what a creative generative AI should be. They are not limiting Firefly to just image generation, modification, and correction. It is designed to allow any sort of content creators create even more without needing to spend hundreds of hours to learn a new skill. All they need to do is to adapt Firefly in their workflow and they will get contents that they have never been able to create before, be it images, audio, vectors, texts, videos, and even 3D materials. You can have different contents every time too with Adobe Firefly; the possibilities, according to Adobe, are endless.
What makes Adobe’s Firefly so powerful is the power of the entirety of Adobe’s experience and database behind it. Obviously Adobe’s Stock images and assets is a huge enough library for the AI implementation to dive into. The implementation can also look into using openly licensed assets and public domain contents in generating its contents. The tool, in this case, will prevent any IP infringements and help you avoid plenty of future litigations.
As Firefly is launched in its beta state, it will only be available as an image and text generator tool for Adobe Express, Adobe Experience Manager, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator. Adobe plans to bring Firefly into the rest of their platforms where relevant in the coming future. They are also pushing for more open standards in asset verification which will eventually include proper categorization and tagging of AI generated contents. Adobe is also planning to make the Firefly ecosystem a more open one with APIs for its users and customers to integrate the tool with their existing workflows. For more information on Adobe’s latest generative AI, you can visit their website.
