[Next@Acer 2020] Acer unveils ConceptD 100 Desktop Together with Three new Monitors

Acer has been hard at work looking into the needs of designers since it first announced its ConceptD line up last year. This year, the line up is being expanded with more options that make sense for the artistically inclined and design heavy consumer with their new ConceptD 3 Ezel and even their new line up of monitors and the new ConceptD 100 desktop.

ConceptD 100 Desktop

The ConceptD 100 desktop takes the design cues of the ConceptD line up and puts them into a rather unique, sleek and eye catching design. The pristine white finish is accented by a deep black panel which houses most of the functional buttons.

That said, the package isn’t just pretty. It has some substance with Acer gearing the ConceptD 100 Desktop for 2D rendering and entry level 3D CAD workloads. It comes equipped with 9th generation Intel Core i5 processor and is equipped with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 2TB of storage. Lenovo ThinkPad E Series Empowering the New Work From Home Culture with AMD’s Ryzen in Malaysia

Lenovo’s laptops have long powered the productivity of small and medium businesses. In fact, their ThinkPad brand has been in the business for more than two decades now! The series has become synonymous with sturdy, well built, purpose built laptops which Lenovo has taken to the next level with models such as the ThinkPad X1 Carbon. However, the company didn’t announce another top of the link ThinkPad this time. Instead, they’ve shifted their focus to their affordable, durable, and purpose built line up: the ThinkPad E series.

They’ve partnered with AMD this round to bring even more efficient but powerful performance with AMD’s Ryzen 4000 series. The Ryzen 4000 series has been touted to bring better power efficiency and double digit performance gains over the previous generation of Ryzen processors. In fact, it’s boasting more than 30% increases in performance.

The two new entries: the ThinkPad E14 and ThinkPad E15 come equipped with the AMD Ryzen processors ranging from the Ryzen 3 to the Ryzen 7. These processors come with an integrated AMD Radeon graphics processor which provides enough power for regular day to day graphics and data processing. The processors are complemented with support for up to 24GB of RAM. 8GB of the RAM is soldered with an extra slot for users to add up to 16GB of RAM. On the memory side of things, the ThinkPad E14 and E15 both are able to support a dual SSD setup with up to 1.5TB of combined space. By default, the laptops come with up to 512GB of memory. The second SSD is an optional add on with support for up to 1TB of memory.

When it comes to display, the ThinkPad E14 comes with a 14-inch, Full HD screen; users have the option of a higher contrast IPS display or a TN display. Similarly, the ThinkPad E15 comes with a 15.6-inch display with the same options. Both laptops come with dual 2W Harman speakers with Dolby Atmos certification and a dual array microphone for conference calls. In fact, the laptops are optimised for conference calls with quick shortcut functions for answering and hanging up on con-calls directly on the keyboard. To complement this, the laptops come equipped with a 720p webcam with an optional Infrared function.

If privacy is a concern with the 720p webcam, Lenovo has got you covered with Lenovo’s built-in ThinkShutter allows you to cover the webcam when it’s not in use. However, the webcam is also used to keep your data secure by locking your laptop when you walk away and unlocking when you return. This, of course, works with Windows Hello and will require the IR sensor to work.

Other than that, the laptop comes with a few Lenovo staples including the spill-resistant keyboard and also the slim form factor that has now become ubiquitous with the ThinkPad brand. Both also support WiFi 6 connectivity.

Pricing and Availability

The ThinkPad E14 and ThinkPad E15 are already available in Malaysia with prices starting at MYR3,499 and MYR3,449 respectively.

The laptops are available via their official partner, SNS Network (M) Sdn Bhd. Customers can make their order in one of three ways:

  • Head to their head office in Petaling Jaya at C-11-2, Block C, 3 Two Square, Jalan 19/1, 46300 Petaling Jaya.
  • Email sales@sns.com.my

[Next@Acer 2020] The Acer Enduro Series Will Withstand Anything You Can Throw at Them!

Well, I wanted to put the title as “you can simply throw it anywhere you want”. While that is technically correct, we do not want to encourage violent behaviours or anyone trying to throw their notebooks at other people’s heads. Hence, the slightly tamer title. Still, we may not prevent golf sticks from landing on top of one. We do not condone that too.

Now we got over that, let us look at what Acer has launched here – the Acer Enduro series. No they are not bikes, they are still PCs. Notebook PCs to be specific and are made to take on the harshest of environments today. This sort of reminds us of the highly rugged notebook PCs that we saw a few years ago from Acer as well.

Introducing Acer Enduro – Ruggedly Designed | Acer

Still, this is an all-new line-up from Acer that is built for a highly underserved market segment. The devices in this series all gets MIL-810G certification and up to IP65 dust and water resistance rating. Now you see why I would say you can throw the device on anything.

In the series line-up you get form factors from as small as a tablet, to an all-day working powerhouse that is the N7. That is where we will start too, the top-of-the-line, made for front-line use Acer Enduro N7.

Acer Enduro N7

Source: Acer

There is a problem that is largely unsolved in places that are dusty, humid, dry, hot, and cold in the extreme sense. I mean, when you go to the quarry, you hardly see computers outside their office, or within an enclosed cabin of a rig. There is a good reason for that.

While we have been able to send man to space, make electric cars go 500km on a single charge, and make LED patches as bright as the sun, we have not been able to make PCs more durable than our own skin. Yes, we are saying that PC parts, no matter how powerful, are fragile. You cannot put water on them unless you have a special coating, dust will amass more heat for parts, and anything out of place might short the board and kill everything. Yes, they are that fragile.

Source: Acer

Which is why Acer answered with the Acer Enduro N7. The Acer Enduro N7, while sounding like the name of an adventure ready bike, is a small powerhouse you can take to Antarctica and conduct research freely even outside the base and research camps. It offers portability like no others.

Under bright sunlight is no issue for its 700-nits bright screen. You can still see details and comfortably work around under the harshest, coldest conditions from its 14-inch Full HD display. That, or watch a good movie if you have strong enough internet connection.

It packs a 10th Generation Intel Core i5 (up to) to really wring out everything out of whatever you might want to throw at it though, since you might need the computing power in these working conditions. Acer also managed to add some of their own security measures on both hardware and software level to protect any sensitive or important information you might put into it. Of course, a fingerprint sensor keeps everything inaccessible to the wrong people.

What is more amazing though is its battery. It has a big battery that is good for 10-hours of continuous use. Of course, that 10-hours is highly dependent on moisture, temperature, and requirements. If that is not enough, you can swap out the battery anytime. It is hot-swappable, which is something we have not seen for a long time, and also means that you can bring a couple of batteries with you for a long research trip. Built-in bridge battery also means that you can swap your battery without the device dying on you.

Acer Enduro N3

Source: Acer

The Acer Enduro N3 is the one you take with you when you work plenty outdoors. It is made to really last your use case. They say event managers might want this. I would say that the MIL-STD 810G and IP53 dust and water resistance on this thing will allow even the most clumsy of people can appreciate it.

It is not too heavy and big too at just below 25mm and just below 2kg. That is quite amazing considering that you have a Corning Gorilla Glass protecting the Full HD display. The rugged notebook is no slouch though. It still packs up to a 10th Generation Intel Core i7, up to 32GB of RAM, and even up to an NVIDIA GeForce MX230 GPU and 512GB of SSD.

No, it is not made for rugged gaming in the harshest conditions, but why put yourselves through that for gaming? This is made to be outdoors. This is made to last 13-hours is stressful work conditions where accidents involving dropping your PCs or other hardware is highly possible and a less painful situation.

Acer Enduro T5 Tablet

Source: Acer

When even more portability is required, nothing beats a light, touch-sensitive display on your hands. That is the Acer Enduro T5 Windows tablet. The 10-incher packs a powerful 7th Generation Core m3 processor that might be needed in managing a production line effectively and efficiently. Of course, this still needs to be tough. That is why it is built to MIL-STD 810G standards and IP65 dust and water resistant rated.

Attach it to the endless accessory option on Acer’s long list and you have yourselves the ultimate productivity machine that can take on anything in your factory. Please do not throw one in one of those heavy-duty shredders though. We are not going to be responsible for any destroyed machineries or hardware.

Acer Enduro T1

The Acer Enduro T1 comes in two sizes, a 10.1-inch tablet will bring Windows 10 experience from a touch screen to a notebook form factor in a single move. It still has the MIL-STD 810G and IP54 rating to make it a versatile and durable workhorse. Its power comes from an Intel Celeron processor paired with a 64GB storage to make it a quite work-around in any situation.

The 8-inch option is an Android tablet that can take on the world. When we say that, we mean it has MIL-STD 810G certification still along with IP54 rating. But it is made to be in all kinds of uncomfortable situations, including retail. In these day and age, you need to work with gloves, and so this thing also works with gloves. That also means it could be perfect in a hospital environment.

Prices and Availability

The Acer Enduro N3 will be available in North America region in August with prices starting at US$ 899. The EMEA markets will get it sooner in June or early July at prices going from EU€ 999. No word on Malaysia specifically just yet. But would you need that though?

The Acer Enduro N7, T5, and T1’s prices are yet to be revealed. There are also still no confirmation on when they will be available to the market, but we can safely say that they will be available within 2020. Information on the Acer Enduro series is available on their website though.

Dell Unveils New G7 Gaming Laptops

Dell’s gaming laptops have been the company’s offering for those who want gaming level performance but can’t jump for the Alienware line up. The Dell G line up has inherited many of the award winning designs that have made Dell laptops a force to be reckoned with.

The new Dell G7 Gaming laptops are pushing the boundaries when it comes to aesthestics as Dell continues to refine the chassis of the G7. This year, the G7 sheds its pounds for a more thin, svelte silhouette completed by a customizable RGB strip. The once thick laptop comes in at only 18.3mm thin. Aside from the thinner silhouette, the Dell G7 Gaming comes with a Mineral Black finish with iridescent silver accents that allows you to go from gamer to corporate professional without batting an eye.

The refreshed gaming laptop is going to be packing a punch when it comes to performance. Packing the 10th Generation Intel Core i processors ranging all the way up to the i9, the G7 is built for performance both in gaming and heavy workloads. On the graphics side, it’s equipped with NVIDIA’s GeForce graphics cards ranging from the GTX1650 Ti to the RTX2070 with Max-Q design.

Like all things Dell, the G7 comes with options for it’s display which include a UHD 4K OLED display with 60Hz refresh rate, a FHD 1080p antiglare LED display with 300Hz and a FHD 1080p antiglare LED display with 60Hz refresh. It supports up to 32GB of RAM with options of 8GB and 16GB out of the box. Storage options range from 128GB to 1TB. Of course, these are PCIe M.2 SSDs.

Connectivity wise, the Dell G7 gaming supports HDMI 2.0, USB 3.2 Gen 1, PowerShare and more. It has support for up to Bluetooth 5.0 and WiFi 6 with Killer Wireless. All of these beefed out specs will be powered by either a 56WHr batter or a 86WHr battery.

Pricing & Availability

The Dell G7 Gaming Laptop will be available starting June 29, 2020 with prices starting at USD$1,429.99 (MYR 6,113.62) worldwide. There are two models that will be released: Dell G7 15 and Dell G7 17. The main difference between the two is the size of the display.

Malaysia will be getting the Dell G7 15 (7500) starting 14 July 2020 for MYR6,499.

[Next@Acer 2020] Acer Unveils New, Feature Packed Swift 5

Acer’s Swift series has always been one of the forerunners of the thin and light segment of laptop. The Swift 5 has become Acer’s top selling model in the series and the one that Acer has been putting their muscle behind. Just last year, the Swift 5 was refreshed with a new, thinner design; this year, the company is raising the bar with even more features and design tweaks that make the laptop even sleeker and more appealing; coming in at less than 1kg and under 15mm in thickness.

The new Swift 5 comes with a few design tweaks that give the laptop some thoughtful improvements. While the over all design hearkens back to the Swift 5 of last year, the new refresh comes with a new hinge design which lifts the laptop ever so slightly to increase the airflow. The increased airflow allows the components to be cooled more efficiently as more heat is able to be dissipated. The display on the new Swift is a 14-inch, Full HD IPS panel with a resolution of 1080×1920 pixels. The screen is touch enabled and also comes with options for an antimicrobial coating and Corning Gorilla Glass. The bezels of the Swift 5 are slim which allows the display to cover a whopping 90% of the upper clam of the laptop.

The biggest change with the Swift 5 is the inclusion of Intel’s brand new generation of processors with their new Xe architecture. The new Xe architecture ups the ante when it comes to performance and power efficiency. It has a new 7nm process which allows the processors to draw more performance with less power. Of particular interest, is the increase in graphical performance from the integrated graphics component of the processor. However, if you need even more graphical prowess, the Swift 5 also comes with versions with a discreet NVIDIA GeForce MX350 graphics processor.

The refreshed Swift 5 comes with the same all day battery life that Acer has been touting since last year. However, this year, you’ll be able to get up to 4 hours of use with 30 minutes of charge. The increased power efficiency of the next generation Intel cores also allows it a slightly longer battery life, allowing it to be a trusty companion when it comes to working on the go.

Pricing & Availability

The new Swift 5 will be available starting in October 2020 with prices starting at USD$999 (MYR4,271.30) in North America, EUR 1,099 (MYR5,323.54) in Europe, Middle East and Asia (EMEA); and RMB 6,999 (MYR4,238.50) in China.

Specification will vary according to region. The Swift 5 will be available in Mist Green and Safari Gold.

Less Weight, More Power – the ASUS ExpertBook B9 is here for MYR 6,299!

Working on the go and off site is a pain. But it is a norm these days. It is becoming more of a norm as the world faces the global pandemic. Working from home is now an essential part of plenty of companies. That also means that companies now must make their employees a lot more mobile. Heavy, permanent desktop PC set-ups are going obsolete and staffs now make do with mobile workstations and notebook PCs.

Of course, there is no replacing raw processing power when it comes to rendering videos and design work. For that kind of power, even the replacement notebook PCs are quite heavy as it is. But for those who needs to be even more mobile, there is another way. There is the ASUS ExpertBook B9.

You have to keep in mind that this is not something you want to carry if you edit videos or design graphics on-the-go. We recommend the ASUS ProArt series for those. Either those, or go on the ROG line-up. The ExpertBook B9 is made for the executives, the guys that need to quickly pop and email out and check on work documents, the ones that need to send final drafts, edit PDF files quickly while staying mobile at all times. Oh, not to forget, they are mostly not near a charging point.

Source: ASUS

For that, the ExpertBook B9 weighs next to nothing at 870g at a minimum. It is no thicker than your traditional notebook and pen at 14.9mm, but you still get full set of I/O ports including a full sized USB port. But it is not that much larger than an A4 paper too, still with 14-inch of display inside mind you and you can get up to two storage options within its body. Oh yes, this comes with its own dedicated NumPad too. Not in the usual way that you think though.

Do not think for a moment that you are giving up plenty of power to get it weighing less than your cat. You still get a 10th Generation Core vPro i7 (up to), specifically built for corporate users where security is of utmost importance. The new processors are also proven powerhouses for all kinds of work purposes, which means you might be able to edit light videos with it too.

Pair that to 16Gb of RAM (up to) and you get a working powerhouse like no other. You can load up as many tabs as you wish to and still get the ExperBook to run nicely. Of course, with the benefit of WiFi 6 capabilities, you can surf or stream all you want. That, or download as many things as you want on up to 2TB of SSD storage. Not enough storage? Just add another SSD!

Source: ASUS

The added power does not come with a higher tax on its battery life though. A 66Wh non-removable battery ensures a full day of use time. When we say a full day; means 24 hours full day, not an 11-hour workday. As if that is not enough time to get your from one airport to another, you can keep your work going with just about an hour of charge with the fast charging technology. This is partially thanks to the clever energy efficient display panel they use on the ASUS ExperBook B9 too.

It is not like you are giving up on quality as well. Of course, something you take around with you on all your work travels would need to be durable and reliable. That is why ASUS have built this to MIL-STD810 US military standards so that you can drop it, spill coffee on it, bring it to Dubai and then all the way to Greenland, and it will still work; you might not.

All these things and you still get a 14-inch Full HD display with sounds by Harman Kardon for when you need to enjoy some down time, or when you need to make important business web calls with the 720p webcam. For ultra-flexibility, your NumPad is integrated into your touch pad. This gives you more reason to get a wireless mouse though.

Yes, we did say that security is a big concern in the corporate world. ASUS addressed this with a physical webcam cover, for when you are not using the webcam. That webcam also works with Windows Hello as a facial recognition tool however. You can either rely on that or the one-touch fingerprint sensor on the ASUS ExpertBook B9.

The ASUS ExpertBook B9 will be available in Malaysia today onward. You can get your hands on one for MYR 6,299 onward. Of course, if you are doing a bulk purchase, you might want to work directly with ASUS or their official distributors. If not, you can get your hands on one from ASUS’ stores and partner retailers across the nation. For more information on the ExpertBook B9, you can head to their website.

Acer Nitro 5 – Gaming on a String in 2020 for MYR 3,799

Video games and budget does not usually go together. Gaming notebook PCs are usually a little bit more expensive than the usual notebook PCs you can find in the market. That is usually because these things are high-powered thingamajis that you can carry anywhere you go. You can take your games anywhere with you. Because of more powerful internals, gaming PCs become a little more expensive. So up until a few years ago, budget gaming PCs do not really exist.

The advancement of technology is a wonderful thing however and makes gaming more accessible to the market. That translates to products like the Acer Nitro 5. The Acer Nitro 5 has always been Acer’s entry-level gaming notebook PC. They have a new one this year, and it is even better than before.

The Acer Nitro 5 has always been a looker, so it is no surprise that the new one still looks good. This time though, you get RGB keyboard that can be customised via NitroSense. There is a new thermal solution within the body of the Nitro 5 for better cooling and airflow. Added with the proven CoolBoost technology, you can squeeze a little bit more power from the Acer Nitro 5.

Of course, all these are just enhancements in the minimal sense. To get the most out of theese cooling solutions, you need better hardware inside. This entry-level gaming notebook PC packs more power than before with 10th Generation Intel ‘Comet Lake’ Core processors starting with the Core i5 up to the Core i7. Paired to the new, powerful CPUs are the new NVIDIA GeForce GTX GPUs (up to GTX 1660Ti).

Of course, price is always a concern. The Acer Nitro 5 starts at MYR 3,799 and tops out at MYR 4,899 for the top specced NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660Ti. Considering the entry-level Predator Triton 300 packs an Intel Core i7 paired to an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650, the Nitro 5 is a real bargain.

The Acer Nitro 5 will be available on the 15th June onward. You can get your hands on one via Acer’s official online store and official Lazada store. From the 15th to 19th June 2020, Acer will have some online exclusive promotions for these two notebook PCs. Among the free gifts that you can expect are Predator Gaming Chairs, predator gaming headset, gaming mouse, and backpacks. Acer’s Brand-New Predator Triton 500 2020 – More Power, More Value at MYR 7,999

Acer wowed us a little bit last year when they launched their new Predator Triton 500 package. When it was released in its Navy coloured aluminium body with a super thin body profile, it was quite a remarkable powerhouse you can take anywhere without breaking your back. What is even more amazing is that the power brick that comes with it is smaller than most power bricks that comes with notebook PCs with that kind of power.

The new one is technically no different from the old one. When we say that though, we are just talking in terms of appearance. Compared to the older Predator Triton 500, you are looking at roughly the same body shape and size. Same package, if you might. But inside packs more power than ever before.

What you get inside is the latest 10th Generation Intel Core i7 (up to) to unlock the true power of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super (up to) Max-Q GPU you get in a 17.9-inch think body. The all-metal body weighs about 2.1kg. That is not to say that it is a light package, but it is lighter than most gaming PCs. It packs plenty of power in less weight and smaller package than a pack of rice.

While the older Predator Triton 500 only packs a display with 144Hz, the new one for 2020 is a performance powerhouse with 300Hz refresh rate. Who needs 300Hz? We do, with Full HD to make sure everything is smoother than a baby’s bottoms. It is fast too at 3ms response time and G-Sync enabled. Of course, colours are important, so the display gets up to 100% in sRGB colour gamut coverage.

The cooling solution in a body this thing has not changed all that much really. It is still the proven fourth generation AeroBlade 3D fans pulling hot air out of the internals of the notebook. Why fix something that is not broken, right? Still, to ensure that you do not burn up the PC when you game intensely or even edit videos, there is CoolBoost with Vortex Flow to ensure the Predator Triton 500 is at its maximum cooling capacity. You can see all these things and control your RGB lighting effects on the keyboards in Predator Sense.

The Acer Predator Triton 500 will be available from Acer’s own online store and Lazada from the 15th June 2020. You can find it in stores starting 20th June 2020. The Predator Triton 500 will be available with online exclusive promotions though, starting from the 15th June 2020. The new 2020 updated version of the Acer Predator Triton 500 will start at MYR 7,999 onward. For more information, you can check out Acer’s Predator Microsite.
