Garmin Launches Their Latest Flagship fēnix 7 and epix Premium Smartwatches in Malaysia

When someone asks us about buying a smartwatch, we always come back with; “how much do you want to spend on our wrist wear?”. Most smartwatches should not set you back more than MYR 1,500 at this point. You can even get a Samsung Galaxy Watch4 for less than MYR 1,000 even. So why did we ask for your budget? Not really to see how rich you are, we want to know how serious you are in going for a smartwatch.

In that sense, if you have about MYR 5,000 to play with in your smart wearable wrist wear, we will always say; “go for something like a Garmin”. Garmin smartwatches and trackers have always been some of the highest regarded wearable in our books. They are built to the highest and most premium standards, and they have always been somewhat timeless. There are new ones on the block, and if you are in the market for a smartwatch at MYR 5,000, we think you should pay attention.

The Flagship – Garmin’s New fēnix 7 Series

GARMINFEBLAUNCH 17

Garmin’s flagship smartwatch has always been a little odd. They always offer coloured displays underneath premium materials and build quality that would put even Samsung to shame. They also offer battery life that is the envy of every wearable out in the market. But they do not offer touch screen capabilities. There is also a good reason for that, but we will not get too much into it because the new fēnix 7 does feature a touch sensitive display for the first time ever in their flagship line-up.

There are a whole slew of improvements made on the watch too that makes this fēnix 7 the best fēnix smartwatch there ever was. Its battery life has been improved by 300%, according to Garmin. Its solar charging capabilities has also been improved by 200%. All these improvements allow the fēnix 7X to last up to 24 days in UltraTrac mode, important when you are on an expedition.

The fēnix 7 series have always been made to be used in the great outdoors. In the great outdoors though is also where mishaps can happen. You might get stranded or lost, or even injured. The fēnix 7 series comes packing an improved multiband GNSS to allow for ultra-accurate tracking even if you are covered by the thick canopies of the forest. If not, the built-in flashlight of the fēnix 7X series can act as a morse code SOS signal display, other than lighting your way through the thick of the jungle or the dark of night.

Of course, you may not be always placed in such extreme conditions. You might want to just go for a simple jog, be it day and night. When you are feeling a little less adventurous, maybe the gym is a good idea. The fēnix 7 series comes packing with more than 40 built-in exercise modes. It now cleverly analyses and keeps track of your Real-Time Stamina when you go for a run, for you to monitor your best pace for the run. There is also an Up Ahead feature on the fēnix 7 watch via the Garmin Connect App to create routes and create checkpoints along the route. This might be useful in organised marathons. For night runs, the flashlight from the fēnix 7X will keep your path lit and light up red according to your arm swing for safety purposes.

The New Standard in Sports Monitoring – The Garmin epix with AMOLED Display

GARMINFEBLAUNCH 15

There is also a first for Garmin here. This is the first Garmin outdoor smartwatch to offer the brilliance of AMOLED displays. It sits under a scratch resistant sapphire crystal, and you can opt for a lightweight and durable titanium alloy case for it. It is made to endure as much as the fēnix 7 series, if not more.

Like the fēnix 7 series, there are more than 40 sports modes on the epix. You can take it to the gym for a HIIT session, or strength training, or even go for a jog, and the Garmin epix will keep up with the right modes automatically. It is made for golf and skiing too. Within the watch is maps of over 42,000 gold courses around the world. It also packs 2,200 maps of ski resorts globally.

Its battery life may not be as impressive as the fēnix 7 series. With regular functions it will last up to 16 days, which is still an impressive number for modern smartwatches. Considering that this does not even have solar charging built into the case, it is also mighty impressive. If you need to go for longer excursions though, you can get the battery to be extended to 21 days with its clever Power Manager function. That is also while you are being GPS tracked.

Prices and Availability

The Garmin fēnix 7 series come in three display sizes and a slew of flavours for your picking. There is a 1.2-inch fēnix 7S variant, a 1.3-inch fēnix 7 variant, and the premium 1.4-inch fēnix 7X variant. You can opt for regular steel or titanium cases for your fēnix 7 smartwatch. All the fēnix 7 watches come equipped with sapphire glass to protect its display. The fēnix 7S, and fēnix 7 starts at MYR 3,270 while the fēnix 7X starts at MYR 4,670.

The Garmin epix comes in three flavours for your picking. All of them measures 45mm in diameter though, so size choices here. You can opt for a regular steel casing at MYR 4,199. The titanium casing variant retails for MYR 4,670 but comes in two colour choices. You can opt for a Black Titanium variant paired toa a black silicone band, or a White Titanium paired to a white silicone band.

Both the Garmin fēnix 7 series and Garmin epix smartwatches are now available on Shopee, Lazada, AECO e-store, and all Garmin’s authorised retailers. You can find out more about the new Garmin watches on their website.

Sony Announces the LinkBuds WF-L900 – Listen to Music and Talk to Your Friends at the Same Time!

When our friends ask us what they should get as a personal music listening device, we always go back to one brand. If you guessed ‘Sony’, you would be right. Sony is one of the leading brands in audio solutions for many reasons. For one, they make some of the most reliable hardware in the industry. They also make some of the best audio solutions that is accessible to even average joes.

They are also one of the biggest innovators in the industry. They were the first brand to commercialise and nearly perfect Active Noise Cancelling technology for headphones. Plenty of the noise cancelling earphones you can find today can find its roots in Sony’s WH-1000X headphones.

Sony WF L900 LinkBuds 7
Source: Sony

In that sense, it should not be surprising for that company to bring in new innovations to the industry. They just launched something that has been leaked and teased for a while now, the LinkBuds earphones. This is something quite unique.

Instead of the usual Active Noise Cancelling stuff that they have been doing and re-doing for years now, this is the complete opposite. While sharing the same codename family as the Sony WF-1000XM4, the headphone is designed to be a transparent one. That is why it is designed with holes for its tips instead of a sealing plug.

The reason for that is to naturally implant transparency mode for the earphones. The downside, if you want to see it as such at all, is that it is permanently on transparency mode. It is also designed so that you never really have to take the earbuds off even when you need to have conversations.

You might liken it to the bone conducting headphones that is quite popular amongst athletes in the market. Both offers a constant transparency mode that also allows you to never take off your headphones until your battery runs out. Both works a little differently though.

Sony WF L900 LinkBuds 1
Source: Sony

The sony WF-L900 LinkBuds delivers audio like traditional headphones, though a regular audio driver seated within the main body casing of the earphones. Of course, the casing, in this case, sits inside the confines of the ear to produce sound that is delivered through a tip that is usually seated inside the ear to also ensure that the earphones do not fall off.

The Sony WF-L900 LinkBuds are designed a little differently though. With Sony’s extensive expertise on designing earphones, they are able to design the LinkBuds with a casing that ensures its security in your ear without relying on a rubber tip. They also managed to make the compact earbuds lighter than most wireless earbuds of its type. Each bud is only 4 grams in weight, making them barely noticeable when you keep them on.

There is still some form of noise cancelling on the headphone though. Sony applied noise cancelling only for when you make calls to ensure that you have crystal clear calls with your friends. At the same time, Sony’s knowhow in headphones packs a clever pick up that cleverly detects your voice and ensures that it transmits thought the headphones properly.

Of course, the LinkBuds packs many of Sony’s clever technologies to ensure you have the best audio experience available. You get Sony’s industry leading DSEE (Digital Sound Enhancement Engine) technology to upscale your music. You also get Sony’s highly acclaimed 360 Reality Audio technology for the most immersive audio experience you can have. It is also made to be IPX4 water resistant so that you can wear it even when you get to enjoy it while working out or even out in the rain.

The WF-L900 LinkBuds will last you 5.5 hours on their own. The carrying and charging case provides an extra 12 hours of battery life. It charges quite quickly too; at 10-minute charge within the case gives you up to 90 minutes of music playback.

The Sony WF-L900 LinkBuds will be available in Grey and White at MYR 849, slightly cheaper than the premium WF-1000XM4. The new earphones will be available in Malaysia 17th February onward. For more information on the Sony WF-L900 LinkBuds, you can visit their website.

TAG Heuer Introduces New Generation Connected Calibre E4 Smartwatch Ready for Wear OS 3

Smartwatch and luxury watch rarely grace the same sentence. They are hardly related or relatable to each other too. A luxury watch enthusiast might not even regard a smartwatch a watch at all. It is more a ‘digital display on your wrist’.

While that is a fair observation, the smartwatch has come a long way since its inception many years ago. A smartwatch today can easily outsell any regular watch you might find in the market. That is not only because of its more accessible than ever pricing. It is choke full of features, making it a better value buy than a regular watch.

Luxury watch on the other hand, has an appeal of its own. Luxury watch pieces are usually highly exclusive pieces made with limited quantity in mind. The build process of the timepiece is also considered when it comes to luxury watches. At the same time, a luxury watch is supposed to last forever, while a smartwatch’s relevance is limited by their software.

What if you can merge the two together though? Impossible? TAG Heuer does not think so with their first Connected Watch launched back in 2015. They have not launched any new versions of their premium smartwatch since then, but then again, there has not been any interesting developments on Google’s Wear OS since then. The TAG Heuer Connected was, in its day, the most expensive Wear OS device money can buy.

Their silence in the smartwatch market does not mean that they are not interested in the smartwatch game anymore though. They confirmed that by releasing this, the new TAG Heuer Connected. They call it the Calibre E4.

TAGCalE4 4
Source: TAG Heuer

The new Connected Calibre E4 comes in two variants this time. Instead of just sticking to a large 45mm diameter body, it now comes in a smaller 42mm case. The 42mm, as per TAG Heuer, is made to be more appealing to the larger market. It is also designed to be a little more elegant with thin bezels and thinner case than the regular 45mm. Smaller also means that it is sportier.

Then there is the 35mm TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4. It is the largest modern Wear OS smartwatch you can find to date. Its impressive size is not just for show though. TAG Heuer ensures that the Connected Calibre E4 can withstand all sorts of scuffs and bumps with ceramic bezel surrounding the Sapphire crystal glass protecting the touch display. You can opt for a titanium case for your TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 too.

Of course, a watch is nothing without its straps and bracelets. The strap is also the only way for your watch to stand out, in a traditional sense anyway. For that, TAG Heuer offers a library of straps and bracelet for you to work with.

TAGCalE4 1
Source: TAG Heuer

For a smartwatch, you can easily stand out just by changing your watch face. The Calibre E4 is a Wear OS device, which also means that you will have access to the large watch face library from the Google Play Store. TAG Heuer also made some new exclusive watch faces for the Connected Calibre E4 though, which will help you stand out among the sea of Google Wear OS devices out there.

Within the svelte cases, both the 42mm and 45mm variants are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4100+ for wearables. While it is not running on Wear OS 3 on launch, you can upgrade it to Wear OS 3 as soon as the Operating System (OS) is ready. Both smartwatches offer Bluetooth 5.0 and WiFi connectivity for more stable connection with your smartphones.

The difference in size allows the 45mm variant to come with a 430mAh built in battery compared to 330mAh on the 42mm. They also claimed that the 45mm offers a 30% increase in battery life compared to the older Connected. In golf function, the watch will last five hours continuously. The 45mm also offers a larger display experience compared to the 42mm, obviously at 1.39-inch of OLED goodness (454 x 454 pixels) compared to 1.28-inch (416 x 416 pixels).

The TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 is set to start shipping and be available in stores starting March 2022. Price? This is going to hurt your wallet a little bit. If you are looking to find a budget smartwatch, this will not be it, turn away now. It will set you back US$ 1,800 (MYR 7,541*) at launch. Sony Launches Two New Premium Walkman Music Players – Yes, Walkman is Still a Thing

When you talk about portable music, 20 years ago you would be looking at something like a Sony Walkman player that played cassettes and later, CDs. Mind you this was the time before MP3 players was a thing. This was way before Apple’s iPod came into the market too.

To be fair, the Sony Walkman brand has existed since 1979 and they were one of the pioneers of portable music. They were so popular until the 2000s that their brand name is synonymous with portable music. The millennium changed, and times changed with that too. Apple introduced the Apple iPod, a digital music player that holds 1000 songs within a premium shell that is packaged smaller than the smallest cassette player Sony could make. It also holds more songs than any single CDs, at the same time you can just change your loadout at any given time eliminating the need to lug around CD cases with you.

The Apple iPod revolutionised portable music and marks the beginning of digital music players. Sony’ Walkman had to evolve. To their credit though, they have evolved and progressed by quite a lot since.

Sony’s Walkman are still makers of portable digital music players. But they are not just any music players. They are some of the most premium digital music players in the market, and there are two new ones.

Welcome to the NW-WM1ZM2 and NW-WM1AM2 high-resolution portable digital audio players.

Sony Walkman NW-WM1ZM2

  • WM1ZM2 front UI Play Mid
  • WM1ZM2 Ofc chassis Mid

They call this one the ‘Signature Series’. There is a very good reason for that. This is the more premium one between the two, and you can tell just by looking at it too. The NEW-WM1ZM2’s chassis is made of 99.99% purity (4N) Gold-Plated Oxygen-Free Copper plates. This is not done just to make it look impressive, it is proper material science here. The superior digital grounding from the material combination ensures cleaner electrical signals from the internal components to produce cleaner, richer, expansive, and more accurate sounds. Of course, the chassis is also made with rigidity in mind.

Sony Walkman NW-WM1AM2

  • WM1AM2 front UI Play Mid
  • WM1AM2 Aluminium chassis Mid

It does not get space age material like its more premium brother. But it is still a solid aluminium alloy frame that is resistive to electrical noise to ensure that you still get a high-quality audio reproduction. That, on top of Oxygen Free Copper cables that runs from the same state-of-the-art amp as the NW-WM1ZM2 to the AUX jack should still provide you with a highly accurate and immersive audio experience with low distortion and noise.

State-of-the-art Technology

  • WM1ZM2 Explosion cut Mid
  • WM1AM2 Explosion cut Mid
  • WM1AM2 Large solid high polymer capacitor Mid
  • WM1ZM2 KINBER KABLE Mid
  • WM1AM2 OFC cable Mid

The new music players have something called an S-Master HX amp technology. It is a full amplifier that is manufactured and made to fit inside the tiny bodies of the new music players. The result of that is a powerful amp that is capable of reproducing sounds at a greater dynamic range. To ensure that you get the purest of sounds, Sony fitted various FT CAP3 capacitors paired with a large solid high polymer capacitor that offers large electrical capacitance and low resistance.

From the amp to your headphones is a thick KIMBER KABLE (NW-WM1ZM2) wiring from the amp to the headphone jack. To ensure that you get the best audio experience you can have, Sony also includes a dual clock and fine sound register within the Walkmans. They went an extra mile with manufacturing as well this round by using reflow solder with gold in it.

Sony’s DSEE Ultimate is a world renown upscaling technology they extensively use in all their premium audio products. The algorithm allows any sort of music file you put into the player to be played at CD-quality (16 bit 44.1/48kHz) lossless audio. The algorithm fills the gaps that has been created when music is compressed and restores all the acoustic subtleties and dynamic range lost due to the compression. Of course, you get the benefit of Balanced Connection and High-Res Audio support with the new Sony Walkmans so that you can hear music the way the artists intended them to be.

Just Like Your Smartphone, But Just Better for Music

  • NW WM1ZM2 MDR Z1R Situation01 Mid
  • NW WM1ZM2 MDR Z1R Situation02 Mid
  • NW WM1AM2 MDR Z7M2 Situation02 Mid
  • NW WM1AM2 Situation04 Mid

Both the new music players work like regular smartphones, to make your life easier. They are also Wi-Fi compatible now, which also means you have access to music streaming services now, should you choose to use them instead of loading your own music files into the device. All of these are accessible via the large 5.0-inch HD 720p touch sensitive display.

If you are in for a long travel plan, you are going to appreciate its extensive battery life. You can continuously play 96kHz FLAC High-Resolution codec files for up to 40 hours on a single charge. Of course, you charge via a modern USB Type-C port that doubles as data transfer port. To ensure you have enough music to play for 40 hours, you get up to 256GB (128GB for NW-WM1AM2) in built-in storage. If that is not enough to hold all your collection, there is a MicroSD card slot to expand your library.

Availability

The NW-WM1ZM2 and NW-WM1AM2 will be available in Malaysia from April 2022 onward. Pre-orders are supposed to start from the 17th of March 2022 onward. They have not announced the official pricing of the item yet though. We expect the prices to be announced nearer to the pre-order dates. More information on the new Sony Walkman devices on their website.

Instax at the Next Level with the Fujifilm instax mini Evo

Fujifilm’s instax series is truly a wonder in the modern digital world today. Fujifilm not only single-handedly revived a retro technology to fit today’s odd world. They also made the retro format of instax’s instant film segment more popular than ever. Of course, you can also thank the ‘hipster’ trend for that.

Let us be very honest with the technology that is instax. It is not a modern technology by any measurements today. We generally refer to this instant film camera technology as the Polaroid technology. Polaroid is not a technology though; it was a brand. They were, however, the first to make a commercially viable and available instant film cameras was introduced in 1948 by Polaroid themselves in the Polaroid Model 95. Many companies follow suit in 1948 onward. You see large names like Kodak, Keystone, Konica, Minolta, and of course, Fujifilm.

Plenty of these names have moved on from this aging technology and started getting into the digital imaging game though. All of them did, except for Kodak, which went bust eventually. Fujifilm went hybrid though, which might explain their longevity in the business.

The Fujifilm instax then is based on a technology that is nearly 75 years old. But it was never marketed as a serious camera for serious photographers anyway. We think that could by why it stayed in business. They started with simple analogue cameras that required AA batteries to run. Now though, the instax brand is a worldwide phenomenon and there is a game changer on the block.

They call it the instax mini Evo. “Evo” as in evolution, and we kind of think it is sort of one. The device is a cross between a true wireless printer and a camera.

  • mini Evo stills 05
  • mini Evo stills 11

We have seen this kind of implementation before when Fujifilm introduced their square formatted films. The instax min Evo is not that much different, but at the same time it is a completely new product that could really drive the instant film photography industry forward.

The Fujifilm instax mini Evo is still a camera. The design is based on Fujifilm’s highly acclaimed X-T series cameras. The design language and material choice add a certain luxury and premium feel to it. It is no longer just a plastic toy; the heft actually feels like it is worth your every penny now.

It is not just a camera though, it is an instant film printer for your smartphone as well, which makes it even more useful and cleverer than ever before. Instead of having to take a new photo everytime or using the camera all the time, you can simply pick photos from your smartphone and be happy with the result in no time.

  • mini Evo stills 17
  • mini Evo stills 20

The Fujifilm instax mini Evo will be available 3rd of December 2021 onward in Japan. When it is available in Malaysia, it will set you back MYR 928. Alongside the instax mini Evo, Fujifilm is also introducing a new Stone Gray film with grey frames instead of the usual white. That will be available in the same day for MYR 99. Each pack contains 10 films. More information on the Fujifilm instax mini Evo can be found on their website.

More Razer Immersion for your Sony PlayStation 5 with the Kaira Pro

The PlayStation 5 was launched last year. Nearly a year on and we still have not gotten our hands on one yet. Stock shortages for the PlayStation 5 is also still an issue at this time. That has not stopped the gaming industry one bit though. Peripherals for the platform has grown stronger than ever.

About a month ago, Razer introduced new headphones that are made for the Sony PlayStation 5 and Xbox platform. The PlayStation 5 is special though. There has not been a proper headphone that would take full advantage of Sony’s amazing audio technology for the PlayStation 5. Until now that is.

Razer Kaira Pro & Kaira Headset

The Razer Kaira Pro, according to Razer, is the first Dual Wireless Headset made for the Sony PlayStation with Haptics. To be fair, it is the first headphone of its kind.

Instead of adding immersion with the usual virtual surround sound, the Razer Kaira Pro features Haptics. Yes, Haptics as in vibration-based feedback. They call it the Razer HyperSense and they claim that it is a game-changer in console immersion. It vibrates along with your Dualsense controller for that extra immersion.

Of course, it is still a powerful gaming headphone. It packs Razer’s TriForce Titanium 50mm driver for that extra bass punch. The TriForce Titanium drivers also delivers excellent high and mid frequencies.

  • Kaira Pro for PlayStation Chroma Render
  • Kaira Pro PS Dongle 2021 Render 2
  • Kaira Pro PS 2021 Render 4
  • Kaira Pro PS 2021 Render 3
  • Kaira Pro PS 2021 Render 2
  • Kaira Pro PS 2021 Render 1
  • Kaira Pro PS 2020 Render 1 without

It is a gaming headphone after all, so you would need a good mic to be able to get your team to line-up with you. The Razer Kaira Pro also comes with Razer’s proven HyperClear Supercardioid Mic. Working with the mic is Razer’s clever vocal recognition algorithm that cancels out background noise to ensure that you get uninterrupted team chats.

Of course, while it is a PlayStation 5 focused peripheral, it does not discriminate. It still works with the PlayStation 4 platforms, PC, and even your smartphone with either Bluetooth or 2.4GHz receiver you can plug into the USB Type-C or Type-A ports. You want to use the provided HyperSpeed Dongle.

Price and Availability

The Razer Kaira will be available from Razer’s authorised retailers and Razer’s own online store from 16th of November 2021 onward. The Kaira Pro will be available officially in December 2021 onward. The headphones will set you back MYR 489 and MYR 979 respectively. You can find more information on the Razer Kaira and Kaira Pro on Razer’s website.

The DJI Revolution is Here in the Form of the Mavic 3 with Prices from MYR 9,799

Rarely today you get a product that is leaps and bound from its previous generation product that it would replace. Then again, there is the NVIDIA GeForce RTX, the new 12th Generation Intel Core Alder Lake processors, and even AMD’s Ryzen processors. Maybe a huge generational gap is not that unique after all. This DJI Mavic 3 though, is a special one.

The DJI Mavic 3 is meant to replace the DJI Mavic 2 series of drones. If you remember, the DJI Mavic 2 came in two flavours; the Pro and Zoom. The Pro variant comes with a Hasselblad engineered camera module while the Zoom variant comes with a camera module with optical zoom lens, you get the idea. The DJI Mavic 3 does not follow the same path with the Mavic 2 series though. Instead, DJI introduced one Mavic 3, and one Mavic 3 Cine edition.

An Aerial Video Powerhouse

  • DJI Mavic 3 6
  • DJI Mavic 3 7
  • DJI Mavic 3 8
  • DJI Mavic 3 9
  • DJI Mavic 3 1

The Mavic 3 series has more in common with the DJI Mavic 2 Pro than the Zoom variant. It packs a 4/3 CMOS Hasselblad engineered camera. The only traces of the Zoom variant is its 28x hybrid zoom capability.

The camera module, to be fair, is not that big of an improvement compared to the older Mavic 2 Pro to be fair. It records videos at up to 5.1K resolution at 50 fps. The biggest improvement is on its 4K resolution recording though. Now you can record 4K videos at 120fps for even better-looking slow-motion videos. This is where the Mavic 3 stops and where the Cine edition starts.

The Mavic 3 Cine edition is truly a special thing. It offers Apple ProRes 422 HQ encoding for even higher quality videos for post processing. It is not RAW, but it is the first integrated drone system that can record at ProRes 422 HQ format. Of course, if you choose to record at that format, ou are going to run out of storage space pretty quickly if you use a humble SDXC memory card. The Cine edition has a 1TB internal SSD storage for all your recording needs though.

Longer, Smarter Flights

  • DJI Mavic 3 2
  • DJI Mavic 3 3
  • DJI Mavic 3 4
  • DJI Mavic 3 5

To ensure that your Mavic 3 does not get tumbled around mid-air, it has even more sensors than before too. It now packs omnidirectional sensors that can detect objects up to 200 meters away just so that it knows where and when to stop or how to avoid the obstacle. It is the easiest full-sized Mavic to fly. It is even cleverer too. It can track a subject, lose it if it goes out of frame, and pick it back up as soon as the subject comes back into the frame with ActiveTrack 5.0. It can even follow the subject wherever it moves. Of course, it also comes with the array of other precision sensors to ensure that it knows where it is at any given time. With the help of GPS, GLONASS< and BeiDou satellites too, it knows where to return to when you call it home or when its battery is running out.

It boasts 15km of remote range with DJI O3+. Even with interference, you are not going to lose remote signal or even clear video signal from 15km away. DJI boasts that this drone can transmit 1080p Full HD/60fps live feed over that distance without loss or lag. Of course, you might not fly the DJI Mavic 3 to that full range, but it is nice to know it can. What is more impressive is that DJI managed to extend the battery life of the Mavic 3 to up to 46 minutes instead of the mere 30 minutes the previous versions used to boast.

Price and Availability

The DJI Mavic 3 and Mavic 3 Cine edition is now available in Malaysia. You can get your hands on either from DJI’s authorised retailers across Malaysia or from DJI’s official stores on Shopee and Lazada. The DJI Mavic 3 starts at MYR 9,799, which is quite a little bit more expensive compared to the Mavic 2 Pro. The Mavic 3 Cine edition however starts at MYR 22,899. For that money you are getting the drone itself with a few extra ND filters, two extra Intelligent Flight batteries, a charging hub, and a special carrying bag. JBL Celebrates 75 Years by Launching the Tour ONE and Tour Pro+ TWS Noise Cancelling Headphones

Plenty of companies celebrate their significant milestone with special edition products. It is quite normal that you get an anniversary edition of things, especially in the world of gadgets. What do you mean why? You get anniversary version of cars, why not tech?

Not too many celebrate their major anniversary by launching a product though, JBL is one of those companies. This year JBL celebrates their 75th year in business. While they might not have existed quite as long as some audiophile brands, 75 years in the industry is a long time. This is also in consideration that some of the players in the audio industry have just started dabbling in high-end audio in the last five years or even less.

Of course, having 75 years of experience in the industry, JBL is one of the foremost brands in the audio industry. In fact, they make some of the best and most value-for-money production level gear. They really know a thing or two when it comes to making audiophile stuff then.

To celebrate their 75 years in the industry, they launched two new high-end noise-cancelling wireless headphones, very fitting. They launched one JBL Tour ONE and one JBL Tour Pro+ TWS in Malaysia. As per their name, they are part of JBL’s Tour series of audio gear.

JBL Tour ONE

This one will set you back MYR 1,699, about the same as the Sony WH-1000XM4 currently. In that sense, it goes up against one of the best in the business. You are going to ask the question; “why should I get this one instead of the Sony?”

The JBL Tour ONE offers what JBL calls the True Adaptive Noise Cancellation technology. The headphone cleverly monitors environmental sounds and automatically determines the amount of noise cancellation that needs to be pumped into your ears. You can even turn on the feature even if your headphone was not connected to your smartphone device. They call the feature SilentNow and you can just turn off the world with the feature.

The JBL Tour ONE is not just a one trick pony though. The JBL Pro Sound tuned driver features HARMAN’s clever Smart Audio Mode that switches your headphone’s audio profile according to what you are using your headphone for. The system will optimise the connection for either “normal listening”, “music mode”, or “video mode”. In “music mode”, the headphones automatically increase the fidelity of music for your enjoyment. Obviously, latency suffers and therefore watching videos with it might be less than ideal. In “video mode” then, latency is prioritised and minimised.

Battery life is not bad too. You get up to 25 hours of battery life with Noise Cancelling function on. Without Noise Cancelling, you double the battery life. If you run out of battery, a 10-minute charge gives you up to two hours of playback time.

For a more active lifestyle, an over-ear headphone may not be the most suitable tool you want to carry in your gearbag. You need something light, something portable, and quick to deploy. You want the JBL Tour Pro+ TWS headphones.

True to its name, it is a compact true wireless earbuds package that fits in your pocket like it belongs there. The 6.9mm dynamic drivers ensures that the small package can deliver big sounds though. All of that while still offering up to 30 hours in playback time (up to 6 hours on a single charge with Active Noise Cancelling on, 8 hours without Noise Cancelling). When you run out, you can simply put it on a wireless charging pad and quickly charge it. Either that or plug a USB Type-C charging chord to it and get one hour of playback time in just 10 minutes.

The JBL Tour Pro+ TWS also comes with Adaptive Noise Cancelling technology that either cancels out noise completely or lets noise in to your ears when you need to stay aware of the situation around you. Of course, the 3-mic beamforming technology mics that are on the earbuds also acts as the microphones for voice calls or voice chats. At the same time, Dual Connect + Sync also allows you to choose whether or not you pick up your calls and play music with either side of your earbuds. Fast Pair allows your Android device to quickly connect to the TWS headphones with no fuss. Of course, it is IPX4 rated, so you can take it to the gym and it is ready for the weather at least.

Prices and Availability

Both the JBL Tour ONE and Tour Pro+ TWS are now available via JBL’s own online store and official retail partners including Shopee and Lazada. The JBL Tour ONE headphone will set you back MYR 1,699 as per mentioned. The JBL Tour Pro+ TWS on the other hand will set you back MYR 1,099. Unfortunately, unlike plenty of JBL’s products, there are no colour choices on this one. More information on the JBL Tour ONE and JBL Tour Pro+ TWS can be found on JBL’s website.

The Beats Fit Pro Brings the Untz While You Workout

It’s not every day you find an earphone with Apple’s H1 technology in it. The new Beats Fit Pro is one of the few that have adopted the technology. Of course, this comes as no surprise as Apple did purchase Beats back in 2014. The company has since continued its legacy of releasing audio accessories made for musicians.

The Beats Fit Pro is the latest pair of earbuds joining the new Beats lineup. It’s made for anyone with an active lifestyle. The earbuds have a winged design that Beats claims will help the earbuds stay in your ears securely. They are designed to provide extra support and security “even through the most rigorous workouts”. According to Beats, the wingtips have been designed after doing research and development on “thousands of ears”. The end result is a “perfect combination of soft, pliable material around a rigid core for a comfortable and stable fit on any ear shape or size.” The new true wireless earbuds come with IPX4 certification for dust and water resistance.

It also comes with a new custom transducer which Beats claims will deliver robust sound even with its form factor. With Apple’s H1 chip at the core, the Beats Fit Pro comes with spatial audio compatibility. It’s able to support soundstages designed for 5.1, 7.1 and Dolby Atmos. It also comes with Active Noice Cancellation (ANC) which is enabled by two microphones. These microphones are continually measuring the ambient noise to ensure cancellation. In its press release, Beats claims that the technology in the Beats Fit Pro measures ambient noise up to 200 times per second.
