Online trading is a familiar ground to me. I have been actively trading online since 2007. Started out on WordPress and slowly explored platforms such as Lowyat.net, Blogspot, and Facebook. I first started using Carousell 2 years ago after Friendly Fashion Malaysia was forced to close its doors. I got to know about Carousell when I received an email from Siu Rui who shared about the app and invited me to give it a try. Carousell has come a long way when it first arrived on Malaysian shores.
I usually use Carousell as a platform to sell personal preloved or brand new items which encompasses mainly cosmetics, accessories, bags, and clothes. In addition to that, it is a place for me to get to know more people and make new friends! I have gotten to know a few awesome people from Carousell and we have kept in touch ever since.
When it comes to shopping on Carousell, most of the time I am on the lookout for bargains in the beauty product section. I love experimenting and testing out products; both skincare and cosmetics. So far only Carousell has successfully satisfied my beauty cravings especially since I’m always on an air-tight budget. Maybe some of you reading this are, too. Recently, I managed to snag Stephen R.Covey’s famous ‘The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People’ in mint condition at a mere RM18! I guess you can say I was ecstatic when I tore the parcel open. *Teehee!
The overall user experience in selling items on the app is blissful because it’s really easy to use and streamlined. It’s neither complicated nor too plain. There are lots of useful features for you to use to your advantage. As for dealing with potential buyers, that’s another story to tell. All I can say is that, on every platform you trade on you are bound to encounter interesting characters.
As a seasoned Carousell app user and online shopper, the app lacks a feature to help curb or discourage both individual sellers and business owners from falsely claiming the items are authentic or the genuine article. The posts can be reported but I still see them around or being uploaded again and again.
I would truly like to see extra security feature(s) which would help curb and lessen frauds cases on Carousell. However I must stress that, Carousell has improved and revolutionised selling and buying via an app on both Andriod and iOS platforms. It still has lots of potential to be, I dare say, the perfect app to buy and sell.
The best feature of the app is the ability to smoothly communicate with potential buyers and sellers without revealing personal details unless necessary. Another feature worth noting is its variety of categories where there’s something for everything and everyone.
An app is only as good as its user base. Besides Carousell, I have used other apps to buy and sell online. However, I always find myself coming back to Carousell as my home as its users and support constantly work together to bring the unsurpassed online trading experience one can find in their pockets.
