The techENT team attended the launch event of Canon’s latest flagship; the EOS-1 D X Mark II for the Malaysian market. Alongside the new King of EOS, as they call it they also launched their new EOS 80D DSLR and EOS 1300D DSLR entry level DSLR. The EOS 80D features 45-point AutoFocus (AF) system, a new DIGIC 6 image processing chip, up to IS 25,600 and 24.2-Megapixel CMOS imaging sensor. For the EOS 1300D; it features the DIGIC 4+ imaging processor and 18.0-Megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor.
Making appearances are the new Powershot compact camera lines as well. The PowerShot G7 Mark II features 20.1-Megapixel CMOS sensor paired with f/1.8-f/2.8 large aperture 4.2x zoom lens and an improved image stabilisation for sharper and clearer images even in lowlight conditions. The PowerShot SX720 HS has a zoom capability up to 40x (24mm – 960mm). With the ZoomPlus technology it goes up to 80x zoom; the highest in its class. The SX540 HS and SX420 IS has zoom capability of 50x (24mm – 1200mm) and 42x (24mm-1008mm) respectively. The SX540 HS is capable of Full HD video recording at up to 60fpc. All three PowerShot SX series have built in Wi-Fi and NFC.
Canon ahs also brought in the IXUS 175, 180 and 285HS cameras for the launch event today. All the new IXUS comes with DIGIC 4+ processors and 20-Megapixel sensor. The IXUS 285HS has a zoom range up to 12x, Wi-Fi and NFC built in while weighing less than 150g allowing for ease of daily use and ultimate portability. The added connectivity also allows for easier social media sharing. The IXUS 180 also features Wi-Fi and NFC. The IXUS 175 has FlashAir(TM) and Eye-Fi support for users to sahre images and vidoes to their smartphones while staying connected to social media.
Once you have taken the photos using any of the products above Canon has also given a solution of printing the photos on the go. The SELPHY CP1200 is Canon’s latest compact photo printer that has Wi-Fi capability and also can be powered up by a battery pack. It can print photos from your smartphones or cameras through Wi-Fi and SD card. The CP1200 uses the dye sublimation technology that covers the printed photos with a protective layer that allows the photo to last and keep it fade-free for the next 100 years.
The Canon EOS 1-D X Mark II is available now at authorised dealers for MYR25,299. The Canon EOS 80D body will set you back MYR4,899 while the EOS 1300D with EF-S 18-55 IS II kit lens retails for MYR2,099. The PowerShot SX 540HS, SX 720HS, and SX 420IS are also available through authorised dealers for MYR1,499, MYR1,459, and MYR909 respectively. The IXUS lines retails for MYR799 for the IXUS 285HS, MYR599 for the IXUS 180, and MYR399 for the IXUS 175. The SELPHY CP1200 goes for MYR499 from authorised retailers as well. The premium compact PowerShot G7 Mark II though will only be available June 2016 onwards with no mentions on pricing yet.
