Brand New Apple TV!
Apple recently announced the Apple TV during its September event. We’re looking at some good improvements. Running on an Apple A8 System of Chip (SoC) at 2x 1.4GHz Typhoon, the device comes with 2 GB worth of RAM and either 32 or 64 GB of NAND.
The display looks to be HDMI 1.4 1080p60 with 98 x 98 x 33mm dimensions. The Apple TV weighs about 425 grams and has a tvOS. Connectivity wise, we’re looking at Bluetooth 4.0, USB Type-C, HDMI 1.4, an IR Receiver and 10/100 Ethernet.
The Apple TV will still be able to decode the 1080p H.264 video. What’s new is that now the brand new tvOS and all the other apps and games should run seemlessly on the device. Since tvOS is now present, you can expect a new interface for Apple TV.
How do you navigate it? Well, users have two options. You either use the super powered Siri via specific commands and searches. You can search for episodes of any shows or even control playback by going forward or backwards a certain amount of time.
The second option is to use the Apple TV remote. Complete with a glass multi touch surface for navigating the UI, it has a button to even trigger Siri as well as your normal pause, play, menu and home buttons. It has a rechargeable internal battery but Apple boasts that the battery should be able to last for months on a single charge.
The Apple TV be available late next month at USD$ 149 (MYR631) if you buy the 32 GB version and the 64 GB model will cost you USD$ 199 (MYR843).
