BlackBerry looking at Smartwatch and Glasses Market
When asked back in May, Blackberry CEO John Chen officially said that the company is not interested in joining the group and release a wearable tech gadget. However, according to a Blackberry executive, the company has changed its mind.
President of Enterprise John Sims told Computerworld that the company is doing internal research on different wearables. Sims further explained that I would love to have BBM on a wearable. It’s definitely an area of research for us.” Computerworld added that the company is looking into the smart glasses e.g. Google Glass and smartwatches market.
Most the wearable tech in the market support Android and iOS. A few even support Windows Phone but Blackberry has been left out in the cold in the wearables department. Well, maybe the company has to just making a name for itself in the smartphones industry first before thinking beyond that. We’re expecting to see the Blackberry Passport and Classic soon.
If, just if, the company is successful with the two headsets, then it can think about a smartwatch and smartglasses. The name BerryWatch is kind of catchy. Would you like a BlackBerry wearable? Let us know in the comment section below!
