Invites to the media have been sent out by BlackBerry Malaysia for a press event next week. There is an international announcement happening on the 25th of September and we’re more than certain that both local and international events have the BlackBerry Passport as the star of the show. The Malaysian event will most likely happen concurrently with the international event.
The Passport has been the highlight of quite a few leaks and rumors because of the anticipation surrounding the device. The headset won’t be for anyone and most probably looks only at a niche market due to its unique physical build. Blackberry has been looking to balance having its signature QWERTY keyboard as well as include a large touchscreen display to attract new customers and keep up with technological trends.
The Passport is already listed on SIRIM’s database so it’ll most likely hit markets very soon after its official introduction to the country. The headset sports a 4.5 inch LCD display with 1440 x 1440 resolution (453 DPI) and run on a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor. It will feature 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage (supports up to 64GB). The device will also be equipped with a 13-megapixel camera with OIS and 5-element f/2.0 lens, 2-megapixel front-facing shooter. The Blackberry Passport is powered by a 3450 mAh battery and supports Bluetooth 4.0 as well as a number of LTE and HSPA+ networks. The gadget measures 128 x 90.3 mm x 9.3 mm.
