Bank Islam VISA Debit Card-i by ONEXOX
Remember XOX Mobile? Malaysia’s first Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO)? Of course you do. They are, in a simple term one of the telecommunications provider in the country, albeit not a very big one. According to the latest numbers, there are about 1.5 million subscribers in Malaysia. Also they were the ones who were going to reward our national shuttler mixed doubles pair if they won Gold in the Rio 2016.
ONEXOX, is the prepaid brand by XOX Mobile. It is also the first shariah-compliant telecommunication service by XOX Mobile offering, as they claim unbeatable prepaid call rates and revenue sharing via its user-get-user program.
That is not the big news however, the big news is that ONEXOX is pairing up with Bank Islam to produce a co-branded card. The card in known as VISA Debit Card-i ONEXOX. The subscription of this card will subject users to two years of benefits. For one, users get to use the TAP Mobile Banking-i function which allows users to perform all their banking needs all on their own mobile device; without using the internet.
With dual authentication security, TAP also allows users to top-up credits from their phones without the security worries. If not, the card still functions very much like an ATM card, as well as a debit card. It even has the new contactless PayWave function for extra convenience. Holding this co-branded card also enables users to perform cash withdrawals without extra charges via Bank Islam’s “Cash Out” service at selected PETRONAS gas stations in the Peninsula Malaysia region.
Bank Islam states that they wish to extend the values added to their customers with the launch of this co-branded card. With the new co-branded card as well they hope to expand their current user base of 2.8 million subscribers of the VISA Debit Card-i. Photos and press release after the break.

Some of the benefits that the cardholders would enjoy are the use of TAP Mobile Banking-i (TAP) Malaysia’s first mobile banking service by Bank Islam. Equipped with an innovative chip technology, TAP enables users to perform their banking needs from the comfort of your mobile phone, without using internet.
With TAP, ONEXOX dealers will be able to top-up from their phones, without worrying that their personal information may be compromised as TAP comes with dual authentication security for a more secure transaction, to protect the account holders’ financial information.
Cardholders can also use the card as an ATM card, as well as a debit card with contactless payWave function. Adding on to the practicality of this co-branded card, cardholders are also able to perform cash withdrawals without extra charges via Bank Islam’s ‘Cash Out’ service at selected PETRONAS stations in the East Coast and East Malaysia.
According to En Khairul Kamarudin, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Bank Islam, the launch of this new co-branded card is part of Bank Islam’s strategy of working with Shariah-compliant brands and companies to add value to customers.
