According to 9to5Mac, Angela Ahrendts, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Retail and Online Stores has announced that the anticipated Apple Watch will be launching in Spring 2015. This is little more specific that Apple’s own “early next year” comment. However, just before you get excited, let us give you an estimate of how much you’ll need to be saving up.
So far, we’ve only heard that the anticipated Apple Watch is going to be priced at USD$350 (MYR1175) as a starting point. You need to remember that the device has an array of versions – from sporty to gold so one figure is not really going to be much to go on.
So which of the devices will be USD$350? It seems that this would be the aluminium Watch Sport hardware. The steel Apple Watch looks to be going for USD$1000 (MYR3500) and the gold Apple Watch edition is going to cost you a whopping USD$5000 (MYR17000). Fellow Malaysians, that’s half a years salary for fresh graduates. I wouldn’t wear such an expensive watch, I’d just put it in a pretty display box and make staring at it my hobby. Well, what could we expect for a pure gold watch from Apple?
However, the steel Apple Watch has been rumored to be a little more affordable at USD$500 (MYR2800) by other sources. I don’t know, personally. I’m wondering how many people would break the bank in buying a wearable that has more than ample worth of alternatives. But hey, if you have the money, why not?
