It seems that the unending battle between Apple and Samsung has reached another conclusion. This time Apple was seeking for $2.2 billion for infringements while Samsung seeked for $6.2 billion also for infringements. The jury though was in favour of Apple. This means that Samsung needs to pay Apple about $120 million for the infringements of the autocorrect, slide-to-unlock, and links that opens in other applications. All isn’t lost though for Samsung. Apple owes about $160,000 to Samsung for infringing the photo organisation patent. Samsung attempt to prove infringement of its video transmission patent has failed. Samsung claims that that patent alone should cost Apple about $6 billion in damages.
Despite this verdict be sure that the drama between Apple and Samsung has not ended. As noted by Engadget appeals could and would be submitted by both parties. Despite Apple’s win this time the amount that Apple looked for was not fulfilled and we are definitely expecting more actions to be taken by Apple. Also despite this being the ‘end’ to the case, there is a small chance that the ruling against either parties could be overturned if any evidence pops up. Who knows.
