Patent from Apple Protects Your Phone for the Drop
A new patent from Apple has surfaced that might the solution to keeping iPhones protected from the clumsy drop by its owners.
Companies look to strengthen their display the tech tycoon might just be looking to take another alternative. The patent document unveils Apple’s strategy of inserting a mechanism into the iPhone that would recognize that the phone is falling and change how it hits the ground. Inside the smartphone, there will be a redesigned vibration motor that will shift the angle of the iPhone whilst in the drop so it takes as little damage as possible. There will also be a built-in ultrasonic emitter to assist in measuring the spin and trajectory of the fall.
The patent document actually goes back to 2011 and the Cupertino company has focused more on producing a sapphire equipped iPhone instead. So, keeping this in mind, the patent may never manifest itself. But I would definitely jump ship to Apple if this mechanism is manufactured. I spend more money changing phones due to damage from falls than I would on an actual iPhone!
