When the iPhone first came out, it could be assumed that Apple single handedly made the stylus walk the plank to its doom. Samsung has recently of course, tried to revive the stylus with the Galaxy Note portfolio but it seems that Apple might just want to steal its thunder.
New Apple patents have surfaced that seem to have the stylus as its main star. The stylus in the documents is illustrated to be able to interact with the iPad or iPhone. The interesting part that has got us a little confused is that the stylus will be even able to connect to other surfaces such as a whiteboard and paper. The stylus will be activated upon being picked up and motion sensors will detect how the device is being used to write or on what service or surface. Users will also have access to different pen heads that will enhance interactions from a range of surfaces. The stylus will even sync with mobile devices only when necessary and when its needs a recharge.
Although this seems like a pretty cool idea, it’s still only a patent. We have seen nothing to indicate that this idea is in development or even in its brain storming stages.
