Apple finally provides an out to iMessage purgatory
Apple has made it easier for any iOS user to switch to any other smartphone competitor without losing any text messages. The Cupertino company has done so by launching a new tool.
Prior to this, any iPhone user who decided to jump ship and move to another operating system other than iOS would have their numbers locked into the Apple iMessage servers. This caused users to lose messages on another operating system.
With the assistance of the new tool, users now can opt to unregister their numbers from the iMessage server and hence, not have their old text messages locked and lost when moving to another platform such as Android.
How does this work? Simply key your number into the system via the web based tool and Apple will then send you a confirmation code through text message. Once received, type the code into the web browser. This will free your phone number from the iMessage server, hence returning all your text messages to you.
