Woah, wait what? MacGeneration has just reported that Apple has just dropped a huge bomb.
The US tech typhoon is reportedly planning on launching new iMacs to update its current line next week. Its focus this time around is for faster processors and affordable prices. The report goes on to say that Apple might also include the Thunderbolt 2 in the new devices. The launch date? Next week. That’s a bit unusual for the company who usually utilises a Tuesday to launch its products.
As Apples products have been becoming increasingly popular in foreign markets, it was predicted and maybe kind of expected that the company focus on creating a lower cost iMac – cause let’s be honest people, even I know that Macs are wayyyyy over my budget and before this, I wasn’t even in tuned with the tech world. Technically when you think about it, isn’t this a long waited move by Apple? Everyone knows that Apple creates great and reliable products and everyone wants them. If Apple were to do this, imagine the market that it would penetrate. The younger ones especially students would love just have hands on a Mac.
Apple most probably plans to increase the processor speed by 100MHz by utilising new and improved processors like he 3.3 GHZ i5-4690, the 3.5 GHz i5-4690, and 3.6 GHz i7-4790 for the 27-inch model. Along with this, we expect a price cut with the minor alterations. On another note, Apple may be preparing to launch Retina Display equipped iMacs. This may cost a bit but if separated from the main line of products, this could be a higher end, more high tech product. The devices that do not have this feature, will of course be much more affordable.
Or, at least we hope so.
