Apple Drops Patent Claims Against Samsung
Apple has dropped the cross appeal against Samsung in the first California case it filed against its rival.
Everyone knows Apple and Samsung have been at it for quite awhile with their patent war not letting up. However, it looks like both the tech giants are tired and had enough of fighting.
Both companies agreed to drop appeals against the ruling by the ITC a few months ago. The case revolved around banning a handful of Samsung devices that infringed Apple patents. This would have been one hell of a victory for Apple if the case wasn’t dropped.
In a sudden turn of events, the American tech typhoon has taken a surprising step recently by dropping another appeal against its South Korean rival. The cross appeal was one from the first case it filed against Samsung in California.
However, the companies are still expected to have their day in California court with regards to second case ruling. The hearing took place a couple of weeks ago and Apple is looking to get an permanent injunction against a couple of Samsung gadgets that infringe its patents.
Nevertheless, with the amount of cases being dropped, it looks like the patent war may soon come to an end. It is about time! This war has been going on long enough and there has been way too much time and money spent on small petty issues.
