At last, Apple has come to an agreement with someone! Apple and Motorola have both decided to dismiss a patent lawsuit that has been around since 2012 as was reported by Reuters.
Apple and Motorola have both voluntarily put this bone to rest and agreed to work together on “some areas of patent reform”. The disagreement started when Apple accused Motorola Mobility for having unfair terms for licensing its own patents while Motorola pointed its finger at Apple for being unwilling to license. It was once again, a battle of patent infringements.
The companies have released statements officially ending a long running dispute. However, it seems that this has been a dead case for quite awhile as Apple had no intention of pursuing any legal action when the case was reborn in an appeals court in April. These two companies have had a long list of legal action against one another but this official statement seems to be the permanent end to all and any dispute they once had.
Neither side have commented on why the sudden change of heart but it seems to not matter since this is a rare happy moment that a legal dispute between typhoons comes to a close on good terms. We can finally go back to the healthy competition in the tech stores instead of constant tension in the courtrooms!
