AMD is Back in the Mobile Computing Scene With the New Ryzen Mobile
AMD is a name we have not heard of in a long time, until the end of last year that is. Towards the end of 2017 AMD came back with a vengeance with the Ryzen for desktop processors. If you do keep up with these sorts things you might find also that the Ryzens received high praises. They performed above expectations and put AMD back in the game. But those are desktop processors; heavy clunky towers that sit at home or the office. These days there are more emphasis on mobile computing – portable productivity.
This year AMD answered the mobile computing call with the new Ryzen 7 2700U and Ryzen 5 2500U.
Introducing the brand new Lenovo IdeaPad 720S that features AMD’s Ryzen 5 2500U. The Lenovo workhorse is the perfect platform for the mobile processor. Alongside the Lenovo, Acer also announced their brand new Swift 3 that will also be powered by the same Ryzen 2500U processor unit.
The Ryzen Mobile processors you see in both PCs features something called AMD SenseMI with integrated Radeon Vego GPU to ensure maximum performances on the PCs without consuming extra real estate in the packaging. This ensures the compact packaging of the devices ourselves.
The Ryzen processors are built with their award-winning “Zen” x86 cores. The processors in theory should perform 3X faster than the previous generation AMD Mobile. Even GPU performance go up by 2.3X in theory. All that performance while consuming 58% less power.
In Theory also AMD claims that their Ryzen platform with integrated Radeon graphics can handle games like League of Legends, Overwatch, CS:GO, and DOTA at 1080p resolution without breaking a sweat.
The Lenovo IdeaPad 720S and the Acer Swift 3 ultra-portable PCs are available tthrough AMD authorised dealers, Lazada, 11Street, and Shopee Malaysia. Retail prices are not confirmed yet as to our knowledge but we will obviously update them here. Do keep watch on this space.
