There has always been a constant, heated rivalry between NVIDIA and AMD when it comes to their graphics technologies. With the former banking on its new Turing architecture with DLSS and Ray Tracing while the latter has made a bet on their new RDNA technology. AMD’s RDNA technology was announced back in Computex to much praise and excitement as the company not only announced more affordable processors, but also packed them to the brim with performance.
Back at Computex and at E3 2019, AMD announced that their new processors will go on sale on 7 July 2019 (7.7). While it is July 7, 2019 in most of the world, the processors have yet to be seen on shelves. So, we’re guessing the components will be on shelves come July 7, 2019 in America – a mere few hours away.
That said, almost immediately after the announcement of NVIDIA’s new RTX SUPER graphics cards, the company has announced a significant reduction in the prices of their new Radeon RX5700 and Radeon RX5700XT.
|Graphics Card||Initial Price (USD$)||Revised Price (USD$)||Malaysian Price (MYR) excluding tax|
|AMD Radeon RX5700||379.00||349.00||1,659.00|
|AMD Radeon RX5700 XT||449.00||399.00||1,859.00|
|AMD Radeon RX5700 XT 50th Anniversary Edition||499.00||449.00||N/A|
The new prices put AMD’s offerings significantly below NVIDIA’s price point which could help with the adoption of the company’s technology. However, in a one word tweet, Scott Herkelman, Vice Prisident and General Manager of the RADEON Business Unit at AMD, the original announcement of was a red herring for the competition. The tweet contained the word “Jebaited”, a common term among gamers which means to be finessed or trolled.

The new graphics cards are expected to hit shelves on July 7, 2019 together with AMD’s new suite of processors, the 3rd generation Ryzen processors consisting of the Ryzen 5, Ryzen 7 and Ryzen 9. That said, according to our sources in Low Yat Plaza, one of Malaysia’s go to places for computer systems and components, the graphics cards and processors won’t be hitting stores until next week. We expect that the AMD processors will start trickling in by the end of this week, if not sooner.
