2022 IDEA Design Award: Dreame Technology Collects New International Design Accolades

The Industrial Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) are hosted by the Industrial Designers Society of America and are recognized as one of the top three global design award events, alongside the iF Awards and Red Dot Awards in Germany. The IDEA Design Award is widely acknowledged as a prominent accolade in global industrial design and development, attracting tens of thousands of contenders from hundreds of countries every year — with less than 10% winning an award. In addition to the IDEA Design Award, Dreame Technology has also won the Red Dot Design Award and the iF Design Award. SONOS Sub Mini Drops the Bass in Petit Form

SONOS is no stranger to audio products. Having just recently released the Beam Gen 2 and the Ray, the company is now introducing a new complement to complete a true cinematic setup. The new SONOS Sub Mini completes the immersion by bringing in the boom with deep, reverberating bass.

The new SONOS Sub Mini isn’t your run-of-the-mill subwoofer, it’s compact and specially crafted to bring immersive, balanced lows to enhance the listening experience. The Sub Mini comes with dual force-cancelling woofers that are able to generate dynamic, deep lows without the buzzing and rattling that we’re used to seeing in normal, everyday subwoofers. The dual 6-inch woofers are designed to bring the oomph and feeling when watching movies. Sonos has designed the Sub Mini uniquely facing both of the 6-inch woofers inward for a force-cancelling effect.

In addition, the SONOS Sub Mini comes with Class-D digital amplifiers which are tuned to complement the unique design. It’s also got Trueplay compatibility which allows the SONOS app to dynamically adjust and fine-tune the settings of the Sub mini to adapt it to the acoustics of the room. This feature is, however, limited to iOS devices at the moment.

The design of the SONOS Sub Mini is minimalistic and compact. This allows it to seamlessly blend into the decor of your space. Coming in at only 12-inches (30.5cm) tall and 9.1-inches (23.0cm) in diameter, the compact subwoofer isn’t going to be an eyesore. It comes in white or black in a matte finish.

Polyplastics’ New 3D Printing Technology for DURACON (R) POM Accelerates Product Development Cycle

TOKYO, Sept. 13, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Polyplastics Co., Ltd., a leading global supplier of engineering thermoplastics, has developed three-dimensional (3D) printing technology for production of DURACON (R) polyoxymethylene (POM) products. The technology, known as Material Extrusion (MEX), delivers physical properties close to those of injection-molded articles despite being 3D-printed. Polyplastics will highlight the new 3D printing technology at the upcoming K 2022 exhibition (Hall 7A/B02) which runs October 19-26 in Duesseldorf, Germany.

Photo: https://kyodonewsprwire.jp/prwfile/release/M100475/202209025914/_prw_PI1lg_k57WG1aI.png

The MEX process can also be applied in preliminary evaluations of physical properties, functions, durability, and other properties without needing a mold, thus helping to accelerate the product development cycle. The MEX process is a typical 3D printing technology that uses thermoplastic resin materials. With resin filaments as the material input, this method produces 3D structures by repeatedly tracing and layering while depositing a melted material extruded through a tiny nozzle. Typically, only amorphous resins or resins with low crystallinity (e.g., ABS, polyamide) had been suitable for use in the MEX 3D printing process. POM’s high crystallinity and rapid rate of crystallization have made it unsuitable for use in the MEX 3D printing process.

To address POM’s limitations, Polyplastics’ MEX 3D printing technology combines a more appropriate selection of POM grades with printing conditions optimized for their crystallization behavior. In addition to accelerating the product development cycle, the MEX technology could also be targeted for low-volume manufacturing of custom products.

Polyplastics is seeking a patent for the DURACON (R) POM 3D printing technology and at the same time the company is developing additional DURACON (R) POM filament materials for use in 3D printing, including reinforced grades. The company is also accepting requests for actual product trial samples.

The New Apple iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro Pre-Orders in Malaysia Starts 16th September 2022!

[UPDATE] U Mobile has announced that they are also on the pre-order bandwagon. Pre-order of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro will begin on the 16th of September 2022. More info on their website.

When Apple’s iPhone 14 was announced by Cupertino, its availability in Malaysia was confirmed to be 23rd September 2022. There were no mentions on its pre-orders during the launch though. Fret not though, Apple Malaysia has confirmed that the Apple iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro will be available for pre-orders from the 16th of September onward. There is one small caveat in the pre-order though, the Apple iPhone 14 Plus will only ship out from the 7th of October 2022 onward.

Of course, you can buy your new iPhone from Apple directly via their website or any of the authorized retailers in Malaysia. Unfortunately, we do not have a proper Apple Store in Malaysia just yet. Alternatively, you can get your latest iPhone from the carriers, and three of Malaysia’s major carriers has also put up their pre-order teasers. Pre-orders with the carriers also start on Malaysia Day (16th of September 2022).

Obviously if you are getting your iPhone device directly with Apple, you are paying for the device in cash, or installments via your credit card. With the carriers, you would usually be required to sign up for their data plans. At this point though there are no information on what sort of plans you will have to sign up for to get your new iPhone. There is no solid indication of pricing from the carriers just yet.

Of course, there are going to be some check boxes you must tick if you want to order your device from the carriers. Their websites will also tell you to ensure that you have any of your outstanding bills cleared. You also want to make sure that you are not tied to any contracts before you pre-order your iPhone 14. Pre-orders from the carriers will be carried out virtually entirely, which also means you want to make sure that you have a stable internet collection. You also want to be on their postpaid plans to make sure that you can get your device with no issues during the pre-order period.

So far, only the three major carriers have announced their pre-orders for the new iPhone. The three major carriers, as mentioned earlier, are Maxis, Celcom, and Digi. While UMobile does have an iPhone specific plan, they have not made any announcements regarding the Apple iPhone 14 devices from their end just yet. We are guessing that they will announce their iPhone plans closer to the actual availability date on the 23rd of September 2022. For more information on the Apple iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro, you can visit their website.
