Panasonic Launches the new Lumix GH6 with 25-Megapixel Micro Four Thirds Sensor and 5.7K ProRes V-Log Video Recording

While the Panasonic Lumix line-up cameras may not be a popular choice for photographers, it is a well-known name in the content creation industry still. That was all thanks to the Panasonic GH4, their first micro four thirds camera with 4K resolution video recording. It was so popular even larger scale production would use the GH4 as a B Camera or stick it in places where space is a premium. We know that BBC were using the GH4 to get certain footages in one of their most popular motoring show, Top Gear.

The compact, high-resolution video capable camera was then replaced with the Panasonic Lumix GH5 which also proved popular among content creators. It packed more resolution than before at 20.3-Megapixel versus the original 16. It still shot at 4K resolution, but now it shoots at 4:2:2 10-bit colours internally, a feature most professional videographers would appreciate. It packs some new features like a speedier auto focus mechanism to make it a better all-around camera than before.

Today, there is a follow up to the GH5. Meet the Panasonic Lumix GH6, the new standard in compact DSLRs.

Like its predecessors, the Panasonic Lumix GH6 packs a micro four thirds sensor. If you have not known yet, micro four thirds sensor are smaller than APS-C sensors developed by Olympus. But it also packs more resolution than before at 25.2-Megapixel over the older 20. Like before as well, it is a mirrorless camera. There are a few new things on this new camera that might you consider swapping your GH5 for one of these too.

Aside from the higher Megapixel count, the video recording capabilities also got a massive upgrade. The sensor now can shoot videos at a maximum resolution of 5.7K at up to 60p. It still shoots at 4K if you want it to, but now at up to 120p for those satisfying slow-motion videos. Of course, you can record your videos if you want with unlimited video recording on the GH6, like its predecessors. You also get 4:2:2 10-bit colours like before, which is always a big welcome when colour contrast is important. You can even record at Apple ProRes HQ codec, important for the professional workflow these days.

Shooting videos without a gimbal or some form of stabiliser is usually frowned upon, even with the stellar video stabilisation mechanism built into cameras these days. That may not be a problem with the GH6 since it features 7.5-stops in their lens correction and stabilisation mechanism. With enough practice, you might just be okay leaving the gimbal behind.

You might be thinking of packing even lighter without your external monitor too since the rotating monitor now features tilt function to make it even more versatile. This allows your monitor to swing around freely even if an HDMI or USB cable is attached to the side of the camera. On that subject, this takes on a full HDMI TypeA cable and a USB Type-C cable for external recording or monitors.

A powerful video camera needs to record on a speedy medium. For that, the Panasonic GH6 can take on a CFExpress Type B memory card and a regular SD card. You can program the videos to shoot on the faster medium while photos can be stored in the regular SD card for example. If photos are not your thing, your SD card can work as a redundancy for your videos too. It is always good to have backups.

All of these will not work though if you do not have a powerful enough processor. For that, Panasonic introduced the Venus engine. Because this is a video first camera, the Venus is made with improved video capabilities like Intelligent Detail Processing and 3D Noise Reduction. It also offers better video output, hence the 5.7K capability.

The Panasonic Lumix GH6 is now available in select regions. There are no confirmations on when the Panasonic Lumix GH6 will come to Malaysia just yet. Currently, the Panasonic Lumix GH6 body retails for AU$ 3,699 (MYR 11,127*), more than some of the full-frame cameras you can get your hands on today. It is a piece of kit that even professionals stand by though. more information on the Panasonic Lumix GH6 can be found on their website.

Fiducia’s Inaugural Fund Launched With Initial Size of 3.3 Billion Yen; Fundraising to Continue

TOKYO, Feb. 21, 2022 — Fiducia Inc. announced that it has executed the first closing of its inaugural fund (Fiducia Growth Tech Limited Liability Investment Limited Partnership), with an initial size of 3.26 billion yen. The fund, which has started investments, will continue its fund-raising activity to grow in scale over the period of about one year.

The participating institutional investors of the fund include AI Capital Co., Ltd., Tokyo University of Science Investment Management Co., Ltd., Nanto Bank Co., Ltd., and Pavilion Capital. The investors range from a renowned gatekeeper and a venture capitalist to a large regional bank and a reputable Singapore-based private equity fund.

The Latin word "Fiducia" was chosen as the corporate name with the intent of executing fiduciary duties and social responsibilities. Fiducia intends to cultivate and invest in innovative companies in real technology (Real/Deep Tech) and health care innovations. Fiducia will invest in these companies and help them with expertise in finance and investments. Fiducia will help them build better business networks and, most importantly, help them to grow.

The management and employees of Fiducia will aspire to contribute to the globalization of the companies in its investment portfolio.

The integration of the virtual and the real worlds is rapidly progressing, which presents great business opportunities for Real/Deep Tech companies, including ones from Japan. Healthcare innovation from Japan’s academia is advancing, but it is yet to be discovered by international investors. Fiducia focuses on investments in these two promising areas, and helps them grow to maximize investor returns.

The growth capital business bridging the gap between startups and public equity markets is now an important arena for private investments worldwide. However, this segment is underdeveloped in Japan. Fiducia aspires to help develop growth capital investments on Japanese soil to invest in and to help develop Real/Deep Tech and Health care Innovation companies.

Many large companies in Japan are rebalancing their business portfolios by spinning off non-core technologies. While some of these technologies will become more attractive if they were managed independently, they still struggle to attract financing from local venture capitalists because these companies are busy focusing on developing local IT platforms and subscription businesses. This is a perfect opportunity for Fiducia. The asset management company intends to act proactively and also work together with other counterparties to fulfill its goals.

Fiducia aims to build a balanced portfolio – not with a scattered shotgun approach but with an intentional bias toward concentration, allowing us to focus on growth investments in the Real/Deep Tech and Healthcare Innovations. This approach allows Fiducia to spend more time with the companies in which it invests, to give their management business and financial advice and to help them build business networks locally and globally.

Domestic Real/Deep Tech companies and Healthcare innovators are not limited to the Tokyo metropolitan region; they also exist in the rural regions. Fiducia hopes that its investment activities could contribute to the transformation of the industrial structure and the revitalization of rural areas.

Comments from Founders:

Takumi Shibata, Fiducia’s Co-Founder, said: "Re-energizing Japanese businesses and revitalizing regional communities will call for urgent solutions. Our focused investments in Real/Deep Tech area and in Healthcare innovations will help to solve these issues, with attractive returns to investors.  Fiducia will be excited if its focused profit-seeking investment approach and returns can contribute to solving these national challenges on any scale possible."

Tokihiko Shimizu, Fiducia’s Co-Founder, said: "Fiducia is convinced that focused investments in Real/Deep Tech and in Healthcare Innovations offer promising investment opportunities that deliver attractive returns.  Growth stage investors like us are operating in a less crowded space in Japan and enjoy blue ocean-type access to investment opportunities.  This is one more reason why Japan needs this growth-stage investment segment to grow. I will endeavor to contribute to building a strong, disciplined and focused investment business in order to cater to our investors’ need for returns, based on my past business experience in national pension management, private equity and venture capital investments."

Steam ‘Borealis’ for Chrome OS is Coming! But Which Chromebooks will get them?

Two years ago in 2020, Google and Valve made a small but significant decision that would bring Chrome OS to the next level. With the introduction of Intel’s 10th generation Core processors, Google says that they are working on bringing Steam on the platform. If you have not known what Steam is yet, they are the largest game library in the known world. When we say game library, they are also an online game store that brought about the revolution of how we play and buy games today. Instead of buying physical copies, Steam brought about the age of digital copies of games; meaning you do not need CDs or DVDs to run your games anymore. That is why plenty of new notebooks and even pre-built PCs does not come with a disk tray anymore.

The announcement was made two years ago though, and we have not seen a single hint of Steam coming to Chrome OS since then. Until 9to5 Google uncovered something, that is. Apparently, things have already been swinging for quite some time now in the works of bringing Steam to Chrome OS and the latest development update came in January 2022. A developer commented on the processes they are working on and a sort of expected timeline for the project.

According to 9to5 Google the changelog that they were going through has introduced a list of supposedly supported Chromebooks and some minimum requirements. Of course, the Chromebooks listed are not named outrightly. From the codenames they have, it can be determined which Chromebooks are supposed to be getting Steam support. Most of them for now comes from Acer and ASUS.

  • Volta – Acer Chromebook 514 (CB514-1H)
  • Volet – Acer Chromebook 515
  • Voxel – Acer Chromebook Spin 713 (CP713-3W)
  • Delbin – ASUS Chromebook Flip CX5 (CX5500)
  • Drobit – ASUS Chromebook CX9 (CX9400)
  • Elemi – HP Pro c640 G2 Chromebook
  • Lindar – Unknown/unreleased Chromebook from Lenovo

The minimum requirement listed on the changelog also mentions that the Chromebook needs to have at least an 11th Generation Intel Core i5 processor and more than 7GB of RAM. So far, the specs reserved for Steam on Chromebooks are higher-end Chromebooks. But this is also a form of good news for Chrome OS fans.

With the introduction of Steam on top of Chrome OS also means that there will be a new breed of gamers that plays games on Chrome OS. NVIDIA is already working closely with Google and MediaTek to be more present in the development of and for Chrome OS. They are also working on a discrete GPU for Chrome OS, albeit for very specific use cases, for some time now. At the same time, the list of supported hardware is still expanding. There are already evidence showing that even AMD’s newer chips might be on the support list soon. A few of Google’s Chrome OS partners have also revealed that they are working on RGB versions of their Chromebooks. Would we see Steam pre-installed or supported by then? We do not know, only time will tell. But we are looking forward.

Seauto’s BestRobtic, Up to 6000GPH Powerful Suction Pool Cleaner, world’s 1st “SONAR Tech” Hassle-Free Cleaning, Launches on Kickstarter

SHENZHEN, China, Feb. 20, 2022 — With the birth of the BestRobtic brand, the era of hitting the wall is over!

Bestrobtic: Automation & Efficient Pool Cleaner Robotic
Bestrobtic: Automation & Efficient Pool Cleaner Robotic

The world’s 1st "SONAR Tech" pool cleaning robot has changed the game with its new sensing system that provides users with automatic, efficient, and worry-free cleaning – which launched on Kickstarter on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 7:00 AM (PST)

Learn more about the BestRobotic here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/bestrobtic/1697676906

The current leading technology most pool cleaners use is "Gyroscopic Navigation", but this technology comes with quite a few disadvantages. The inability to navigate intelligently often causes the robotic to hit the walls of the pool and low cleaning coverage – which can make the pool visually unappealing and reduce the desire to use the swimming pool for people.

Whether it’s a sweeping robot, weeding robot, window cleaning robot, or pool cleaning robot, all cleaning robots are designed to reduce the amount of labor and time necessary for that cleaning task. Automated, efficient, and worry-free cleaning is the main purpose of these types of electronic cleaning devices.

– 100% Fully Automatic & Hassle-Free Cleaning

  1. The above-mentioned military-level sonar technology which is currently mainly used for marine resource exploration, fish detection, and underground exploration. The BestRobtic is the only pool cleaning robot using this technology today.
  2. Due to each bottom of the pool having more or fewer potholes, a new altitude sensor (IMU chip) was specially designed by the BestRobtic R&D team to automatically sense the texture of the pool bottom more quickly and accurately with more precise automatic steering.
    – Compared with earlier pool cleaning devices, the use of sonar technology and the addition of an altitude sensor are technological breakthroughs that incorporate intelligent navigation and help it achieve a thorough clean. These additions bring the cleaning coverage rate up to 99.99% and guarantee the durability of the pool walls.
  3. In addition to improving navigation. With automatic obstacle sensing, automatic obstacle avoidance, automatic turning, automatic cleaning along the wall, and automatic escape (BestRobtic exclusive patent), these 5 perfectly integrated automatic functions will keep every swimming pool sparkling clean.
  4. Many swimming pool cleaning robots often get stuck on steps, corners, drainage pipes, and other obstacles inside the pool – In order to fundamentally solve this trouble, the BestRobtic R&D team spent 3 months developing an automatic escape algorithm from the data of thousands of tests, lowering the risk of the BestRobtic getting stuck by 99.99%.

Main benefits of Seauto‘s BestRobtic Pool Cleaner

A True Smart Navigation Cleaning

The BestRobtic introduces a one-of-a-kind "Sonar Technology" the world to of wireless pool cleaning robots. This technology creates a number of benefits, ranging from a longer life cycle and exceptional cleaning to extreme cost-effectiveness and no longer fear about the light-refracting in water – A true smart navigation cleaning.

Sonar Technology Let cleaning be Hassle-Free

BestRobtic is 100% automation clean, also comes with other practical features, such as anti-collision technology that traditional pool robots lack. Say goodbye to the 15-year-long reign (since 2007) of gyro navigation.

The SEAUTO Team also focuses on the research and development of special robots for underwater cleaning, and is the first to refine sonar technology (that of military submarines) and add it to pool cleaning robotics. Thanks to the brand-new Sonar Tech automatic sensing system makes the pool cleaning robot no longer the "fool hitting the wall" brought by traditional gyroscope navigation, and fundamentally solves the problem of damaging the pool walls and floor.

Affordable, Everyone can afford it

Cleaning services often have an annual fee of $2,000$4,000 (a labor cost of $200/hour) or more, with a weekly or biweekly cleaning cycle.

Cleaning with the BestRobtic will reduce the amount of labor costs and effort, and saves pool owners thousands of dollars per year.

– Greatly Upgraded Cleaning Ability

  1. 180W BLDC dual motors [2 x 90W] -> Provides flexible movement and bidirectional rotation, bringing cleaning coverage up to 99.99%
  2. 150W Powerful Drainage Motor -> Creates effective water absorption for a better cleaning effect.
  3. Picks up debris as small as 0.12mm -> While other products can only detect items 0.18mm or larger, the BestRobtic easily picks up leaves, gravel, fine powder, sand, pollen, and algae of all sizes
  4. 4000ml Filter Container -> Large enough to debris of any size while reducing the frequency of cleaning
  5. The cleaning time is as high as 100min or more, covering a pool area of more than 861 sqft (80㎡)
  6. The TPE brushes ensure the durability of any pool bottom, which 100% no cause damage to the bottom of the pool, leaving scratches and more.
  7. The BestRobtic up to 6000GPH powerful section has been tested to pick up rocks as large as 34* 18 *15 mm and weight 6.9g, and can even pick up hard objects like metal bottle caps easily!

China.org.cn on Beijing 2022: Where passion and warmth sparkle

BEIJING, Feb. 18, 2022 — A report from China.org.cn on Beijing 2022:

Here are some touching and positive stories on Beijing 2022.

American athlete Tessa Maud shared on her social platform a heartfelt moment at the opening ceremony when a volunteer greeted her with a loud "welcome to China", a gesture that literally moved her to tears.

The Canadian delegation’s operations staff wrote a letter to the Chinese staff working in their building, thanking them for their efficiency and warmth.

A Chinese netizen sent American-Samoan athlete Nathan Crumpton a cartoon image of him showing up shirtless at the opening ceremony. Later people found out that he had stuck the cartoon image to his skeleton.

Sportsmanship has been well displayed in these games. China’s curling team lost a match to the U.S., but Chinese players presented Bing Dwen Dwen badges to their American counterparts. Later, the American pair also sent gifts in return.

When Gu Ailing won gold at the Big Air event, she hugged the other two medalists and comforted French athlete Tess Ledeux as she wept. Then at the press conference, Gu Ailing said it was Tess who inspired her to go all-in on her last jump.

At this Olympics, many athletes were pushing their limits and competing against themselves, which won admiration and respect from audiences. Japanese skater Yuzuru Hanyu challenged himself to finish a quadruple Axel; Canadian snowboard athlete Max Parrot returned after recovering from cancer and chemo and managed to clinch a gold medal. German speed skater Claudia Pechstein is still on the ice rink at the ripe age of 49 despite her stellar Olympic CV. Updated with new information in late 2021, COVID-19 and Tobacco Use covers topics such as the impact of smoking on COVID-19, the effects of nicotine at a molecular level, and the behavior of the tobacco industry during the pandemic.

Current evidence shows the negative impacts of smoking on COVID-19 outcomes, providing one more compelling reason and an added sense of urgency for people to quit using tobacco products. As infections continue to disrupt daily living, any step taken to curb the negative outcomes of COVID-19 should be explored and implemented. This course can help amplify that effort.

The COVID-19 and Tobacco Use course joins a distinguished suite of existing free online courses, which have been completed by more than 6,700 participants from more than 100 countries around the world.

Global Tobacco Control: Learning from the Experts is a comprehensive primer on the tobacco epidemic featuring 27 subject matter experts from 14 countries. Participants in the course will get a unique global perspective on the burden of tobacco on death and disease and evidence-based solutions to reduce it.

Learning from the Experts: A Course for Healthcare Providers is an online course developed with input from globally acclaimed tobacco control advocates in healthcare careers. Designed for busy healthcare providers, this course provides up-to-date information about the role healthcare professionals can play in tobacco control, and how to help their patients quit tobacco. Recent updates to the course include how cessation medication works; how to help a patient quit smokeless tobacco and other non-cigarette tobacco products; and addressing practical issues clinicians face when helping their patients quit tobacco.

All three courses are free to any user around the world and feature a responsive design that allows users to take the course at their own pace on any device. Users who complete a course receive a certificate of completion from the Institute for Global Tobacco Control.
