BLS International partners with Knowledge Catalyst to issue Digital Health Certificates

This partnership aims to provide passengers a seamless cross-border travel experience with a reliable digital health certificate

SINGAPORE, June 24, 2021 — BSE and NSE listed (BSE: 540073; NSE: BLS), BLS International, a trusted global tech-enabled services partner for governments and citizens, announced today that it has entered into a partnership agreement with a Singapore-based company, Knowledge Catalyst to provide Digital Health Certificates also known as HealthCerts, for passengers travelling to and from Singapore.

Effective immediately, BLS will start issuing HealthCerts in Singapore. HealthCerts is a set of digital standards and schema for issuing digital COVID-19 Pre-Departure Test (PDT) results certificates that are in line with international standards and the Singapore Government’s requirements. The HealthCerts schema was developed in collaboration with the Government Technology Agency (GovTech) and Ministry of Health (MOH) of Singapore. Further, these HealthCerts are tamper-proof and traceable. Currently, they are issued directly to travellers in the form of a QR code, and can be downloaded onto their mobile devices. These QR codes will enable authorities to easily verify that the PDT results have been issued by accredited healthcare institutions and allow them to confirm the authenticity of the certificates before granting border access.

With the ongoing ease in travel restrictions, there has been resumption of global travel. Keeping the wellbeing and safety of travellers as well as citizens in mind, many countries are allowing visitors’ entry with verified health certificates. Such solutions are welcoming as it provides a seamless verification process for both travellers and authorities.

BEIJING, June 24, 2021 — China Media Group (CMG) and Kuaishou held a joint press conference officially announcing a short video strategic partnership on Tokyo 2020 Olympics Games and the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. Kuaishou now holds the official broadcasting rights for Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. Kuaishou is the first short video and live-streaming platform globally to become an official broadcaster of the Olympics Games.

Su Hua, CEO of Kuaishou Technology, emphasised at the conference that Kuaishou remains true to its beginning aspirations of recording and sharing life stories. He also notes that it’s an honor for Kuaishou to be able to document and enjoy the Olympic Games with all users. WHY THE RED STAR SHINES OVER CHINA: The Surging Xiangjiang River II–The Forerunners of the CPC

BEIJING, June 23, 2021 — A news report by China.org.cn on the early life of Mao Zedong in Changsha: 

To the people of China, Changsha is a city of heroes. Mao Zedong, who saved the Party’s cause several times, spent his youth studying, living and working here. This is also where Mao Zedong Thought was formed.

 

The New People’s Study Society was later known as the forerunner of the Communist People of China. In an interview, Mao said that the Society was to have a widespread influence on the fate of China.

The site of the founding meeting of the New People’s Study Society (Xinmin Xuehui), located in Changsha, was also the former residence of Cai Hesen, an early leader of the CPC.

In 1917, Cai went to Changsha to study and lived with his family in rented accommodations. It was there where his schoolmates, Mao and Xiao Zisheng, often talked freely about transforming Chinese society. On Apr. 14, 1918, the New People’s Study Society was established at Cai’ home.

The New People’s Study Society was a significant social organization in China at that time, which aimed to "reform academics and boost morals." In the second year (1919), the May Fourth Movement broke out, and then they revised the society’s purpose to "transform China and the world."

In order to achieve such a purpose, Mao made a division of labor for the society’s members. Some of them stayed in China for investigation to learn more about the national conditions. Others, such as Cai Hesen, Xiao Zisheng and Li Weihan, went to France to work and study to look for ways to transform China and the world.

While working and studying in France, Cai Hesen translated a large number of Karl Marx’s works and wrote letters to Mao in China. In letters dated August 13th, and September 16th, 1920, he proposed "establishing the Communist Party of China without fear," stating the theories and steps needed for the Party’s founding. Mao replied, "This is a very good idea, and I could not agree more."

Mao, who stayed behind in China, started the Xiangjiang River Review in Changsha in July 1919. He was the chief editor, introducing and spreading new ideas. Li Dazhao believed that this was the most important and insightful periodical in China. Several progressive youths such as Ren Bishi, Guo Liang, and Xiao Jinguang began to awaken under its influence.

These members had great ambitions. They studied hard and took active exercise to make full preparations for shouldering greater responsibilities.

Many people in the New People’s Study Society became the first batch of CPC members. It can be said that the society prepared talents for the founding of the CPC, and among them a Communist leader.

In 1921, the New People’s Study Society completed its historical mission and ceased activities. However, that did not mean the end of their efforts to push the revolution forward.

The No. 22, Qingshuitang, was later recognized as the exact address of the former secret base of the CPC in Hunan-the then CPC Hunan Region Revolutionary Committee, and also the former residence of Mao Zedong and Yang Kaihui.

In July 1921, after attending the First National Congress of the CPC, Mao and He Shuheng returned to Changsha and began preparations for the establishment of local Party organizations in Hunan.

In October 1921, the CPC Hunan Branch was established, the first provincial Party branch in China. Mao was elected as secretary, He Shuheng, Yi Lirong as committee members.

Mao spent more than one year in Qingshuitang. It was the happiest and most romantic period in Mao’s revolutionary career. He had old parents and young kids by his side. His two children, Mao Anying and Mao Anqing, were both born there.

There were only few members in Hunan branch at that time. Later, the number of Party members grew steadily. In May 1922, approved by the CPC Central Committee, the CPC Hunan Region Revolutionary Committee was officially established.

During this time, Mao organized the workers’ movement, the peasants’ movement and the students’ movement, to propagate Marxism-Leninism and the Russian October Revolution. One of his major achievements during this period was the Anyuan Miners’ Strike, in which the management gave in to the workers’ demands. In this strike, Liu Shaoqi negotiated with the management, Li Lisan presided over the labor union, and Mao was the general leader.

In July 1923, the third National Congress of the CPC was held in Guangzhou. In this meeting, Chen Duxiu, the leader of the CPC, made a speech on the work of the Party branches. Speaking highly of the Hunan Committee’s performance, Chen said that only comrades in Hunan had done a good job.

Dell Technologies Steps Closer to Carbon Neutrality with the Largest On-site Solar Panel

Many companies are moving slowly towards becoming more carbon-neutral and environmentally responsible. We’ve seen companies make commitments in the past year to make their operations more environmentally friendly, however, companies like Dell Technology have been hard at work behind the scenes. The company has been working to realise their “Progress Made Real” blueprint as early as 2012.

One of the pillars of their blueprint is a coordinated effort to advance sustainability in their operations. Under this lofty pillar, Dell has committed to reducing their energy intensity and also sourcing 75% of electricity from renewable resources. To this end, the company has implemented the world’s largest on-site solar panel in the Dell Technologies Asia Pacific Customer Center in Bukit Mertajam in Penang, Malaysia.

The solar panel consists of 1,590 individual efficient solar panels which will produce 1,000MWh of renewable electricity annually at their centre. This will account for more than 25% of the energy consumed at the 24-hour facility. Dell Technologies is aiming to reduce the emissions of greenhouse gases at the facility by an impressive 650 metric tonnes (650,000 kg) annually.

The solar panel is the latest in Dell Technologies ongoing efforts to become a more ecologically responsible company. Previously, they have made changes to their product lineup to incorporate more recycled materials in the products and packaging. It is the company’s step forward in attaining its goal of having nett zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

SodaGift launches app to make “gifting easier”

PANGYO, South Korea, June 22, 2021 — Global gifting service SodaGift launched their mobile app available both on Android and iOS early June.

SodaGift allows users to send digital gift cards and delivery gifts from abroad to Korea and are in the works to expand their gift coverage in North America by the end of 2021. Currently, digital gift cards from over 150 brands are offered and delivered via text message or link share. Delivery gifts range from flowers to gift sets that vary according to seasons and holidays.

Payment methods and language support have been the largest barriers in online gifting from Korean online stores for foreigners and expats. SodaGift accepts international cards and all aspects of the service including customer support is available in both Korean and English.

Acer’s Enduro Urban N3 is the Notebook You Can Take Anywhere

Being productive on the go has become more important than ever in a rampant work-from-home culture. When you consider it, the work-form-home culture could be loosely translated to work-from-anywhere culture too at this time. It is about being productive and getting your work done at any time, and anywhere you can find an internet connection. That is why notebook PCs have become increasingly popular in the current climate.

The problem with the current breed of notebook PCs is that they are a little fragile. Not to say that they do not come with stellar build quality. They do come with premium materials with build quality that you can hardly complain about. When we say fragile, we are saying that most of them will not be able to stand drops, they get scratched easily, they cannot handle water or spills, they do not work when they are out of your office or home.

With Intel’s Iris Xe Graphics, the Enduro Urban N3 should also be able to tackle simple video editing via Adobe Premiere Pro, or even Da Vinci Resolve. Both the processors are backed by up to 8GB in RAM and 512GB of SSD storage to keep everything running smoothly and quickly at the same time.

You also get a 14-inch Full HD IPS display for great looking images with highly accurate colours. While Acer does not mention its DCI-P3 or sRGB coverage rating, IPS displays are known for bright and vibrant colours on the display for great looking images and videos. At least Acer made sure that it displays at up to 450nits which should be bright enough to work with under the bright sunlight.

The notebook PC might sound like a plain laptop with nothing special going for it. If you look at it on paper, it does look quite regular. The internals are encased in a sort of a tank of a chassis. The chassis is a U.S. MIL-810H military standards. That also means that Enduro Urban N3 can withstand the regular drops and bumps from your desk. With IP53, it can also withstand more than a spill of a glass of coffee.

With that kind of build standards, the Acer Enduro Urban N3 sounds like it can withstand even nature itself. The rugged design of the notebook puts it at home even when you work with it at your favourite waterfall trail. Acer also claims that the battery in the Enduro Urban N3 can keep it alive for 13 hours on a single charge. That also means that you never have to worry about getting things done outdoors, as long as you can keep it charged before you get out of home or the office.

The device will be available in Denim Blue colour option only though. The device will set you back MYR 2,799 (Intel Core i3) onward all the way to MYR 3,699 (Intel Core i7).
