CLROBUR successfully showcases drone delivery in Yeongwol with 3D UAM/UTM system

SEOUL, South Korea, Nov. 26, 2021 — CLROBUR‘s DROW, an AI-integrated automatic flight ground control platform (GCP) that uses urban air traffic management (UATM) technology, has opened a new chapter in the field of logistics by delivering a product using an autonomous drone. The company, a member of Born2Global Centre, has been participating in the Born2Global-led effort to create an innovation ecosystem for free economic zones.

During a presentation on the establishment of "drone cities," which was held recently in Yeongwol, CLROBUR showcased DROW to the audience. By delivering a box of seasoned fried chicken from a drone hub in Saekyung University to a hub located in front of a drone test site in Yeongwol, the company successfully demonstrated a beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) flight by an autonomous drone. The company was also able to complete its urban traffic management (UTM) technology, which is necessary to enable autonomous flights with the technological convergence of drone manufacturers, 3D map providers, and telecom companies. DROW, which is equipped with diverse telecommunications protocols, is applicable to many different kinds of drones. Moreover, a commercial drone delivery service connecting a delivery drone hub with several camping sites across Yeongwol is set to be launched by Yeongwol-gun in 2022.

According to the "Korean Urban Air Mobility (K-UAM) Concept of Operations 1.0," which was unveiled in September 2021 by UAM Team Korea—a public-private consultative body sponsored by the South Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT)—air taxis equipped with drone and telecommunications (5G/4G) technologies will become available in Seoul from 2025.

The first phase, set for the period of 2025 to 2029, will involve human pilots, while the second phase, slated for 2030 to 2034, will incorporate remote operation covering metropolitan cities with a seat in the air taxi reserved for a safety staff member. The final phase, planned for after 2035, will feature fully autonomous air taxis with nationwide coverage. Prior to K-UAM commercial operation, MOLIT designated 10 regions, including Yeongwol, Seongnam, Gyeongnam Province, Gwangju, Daegu, Daejeon, Sejong, Ulsan, Jinan, and Seosan, as drone cities and has been carrying out a wide range of drone missions.

AvePoint Edutech Empowers Integrated Online Learning in Six Singaporean Institutes of Higher Learning

If the pandemic proved one thing – it’s that a majority of education systems and institutions currently available are ill-equipped for online-based learning. However, six of Singapore’s Institutions of Higher Learning are looking to change that with the appointment of AvePoint, Inc. by Temasek Polytechnic to deploy its integrated training platform. The project will provide over 100,000 learners access to a catalogue of 44,000 courses in a fully digital and hybrid manner.

AvePoint, Inc. will be deploying their AvePoint EduTech platform which is one of the only software as a service (SaaS) platforms for education and training that integrates directly with Microsoft’s suite of applications. It integrates directly into Microsoft Teams – which comes pre-installed in Windows 11 – and other Microsoft 365 services and applications to provide a seamless experience to both teaching staff and learners.

image003

AvePoint Edutech will be providing these six institutions of higher learning with a holistic, integrated solution that covers multiple facets of online and hybrid learning. Edutech is geared to ending the dilemma of jumping from one platform to another for a single function. Students and teaching staff won’t need to jump from Blackboard to WhatsApp to ProctorU for the complete suite of functions to effectively deliver lessons. Edutech’s three components: Curricula, Examena and Vitae allow all these functions to be managed seamlessly on one platform.

Using Microsoft’s Azure backbone and Kubernetes, Avepoint Inc. has simplified and containerised its offering to cater to the unique needs of every institution. They have also leveraged Azure Cognitive Service and Microsoft AI to deliver some of their more complex features. The Azure Cognitive Service is deployed in Examena to help prevent cheating as well as to verify student identity while Microsoft AI’s natural language processing is applied in Curricula where teaching staff can easily generate assessments and quizzes based on lectures. Group messaging and communication also leverages Azure by integrating directly with Microsoft Teams.

AI at Scale with AvePoint EduTech

Microsoft’s Azure platform also allows better management of data. User information, classes and even profiles are secured in encrypted data lakes making it harder for malicious actors to access. More importantly, Azure’s services allow AvePoint Inc. to rapidly deploy and adapt services to the needs of each institution.

The deployment of AvePoint Edutech is expected to be completed by 2023.

Spotify Tests TikTok Style Video Feeds for Discovering New Music

Spotify is one of the most popular audio streaming apps in the world. It is currently one of the most complete as well in terms of listening options. You do not only have music; you also get the largest collection of podcasts the world has seen so far. On top of that, it might be the cleverest audio streaming app you can find today.

Spotify features nifty ways for you to discover new music. The app understands the sorts of music you listen to daily and gives you suggestions to music that might match your music tastes, your playlists’ moods, or themes. You can even discover music with your friends now with the Spotify Blend feature.

Soon though, you might be able to discover music on Spotify in a brand-new way. You want to keep in mind that this is a feature not fully released to the final app, so you might want to take it with a pinch of salt. The feature was first spotted by a certain Chris Messina on Spotify’s TestFlight build, a beta Spotify app for the iOS. There are no mentions on whether you can find the feature on Android’s version of Spotify Beta apps.

As reported by TechCrunch, the new Discover feature is a button or tab of its own that takes up the fourth spot on Spotify’s navigation bar. Spotify has confirmed that they are in the midst of testing this new ‘Discover’ function. While it does sound like Spotify is simply adding a simple random music search feature to the app, you might want to take a closer look at it.

Discover is a sort of short-form video content that sits on Spotify. It can be likened to TikTok, yes. But the sole purposed of it is for users to discover new music. You cannot be freely posting contents into the platform like TikTok. Instead, the feature now allows users to scroll through short video clips accompanied with curated music paired to the video feed. This does sound a lot like Spotify’s Canvas feature which played short video clips for certain songs.

Again, this feature is only available on iOS devices. It is also not a fully released feature, which also means you must source for Beta versions of the Spotify app. Sadly if you are on Android, you might be out of luck.
