Windows Phone gets the Boot from Waze!
Waze has become one of the most common and popular navigation app on any platform: iOS, Android or Windows Phone. The turn by turn navigation application gained popularity due to the social nature of the platform which crowd sources its traffic information from its users. However, recent updates for the application have not made it to Microsoft’s mobile platform, Windows Phone.
The increasingly popular application was acquired by technology behemoth, Google, in June 2013. Given the nature of the relationship between Google and Microsoft which has become increasingly distant, it comes as no surprise that the updates for Waze didn’t make it to Windows Phone. The sentiment was confirmed when a Windows Phone user tweeted at Waze inquiring about the development of the application on Windows Phone; to which Waze responded, “There are no plans for an update as of now but things can always change.”. The last update for the navigation application came in February of this year and it looks to be the last update that will make it to Microsoft’s mobile platform.
