The New Selfie Expert, OPPO F5 Hands-on – techENT
The OPPO F5 just launched last week. The new OPPO Selfie Expert F5 is powered by a MediaTek MT6763T Helio P23 Octa-Core processor that is paired to either 4GB or 6GB of RAM for super snappy and smooth experience. Graphics is handled Mali-G71 MP2 GPU powering the borderless 6.0-inch 1080 x 2160 pixels Full HD+ IPS LCD display. Storage comes in the form of either a 32GB (4GB RAM) or 64GB (6GB RAM). The Dual SIM OPPO F5 can also support up to 256GB of MicroSD storage should the on-board storage be inadequate. The fingerprint sensor is now moved to the back panel of the device below the 16-Megapixel camera module. The 1080p Full HD capable camera is paired with a 20-Megapixel f/2.0 front-facing selfie camera. This selfie camera also comes with its own AI for superior self-portrait. To ensure the ‘Selfie Expert’ lasts the whole day it comes with 3,200mAh built-in battery that charges through a MicroUSB 2.0 port (no quick charge technology sadly). You still get the 3.5mm headphone jack with Bluetooth 4.2 LE so you can either listen to music through a tethered connection. The device runs on Android 7.1 Nougat with OPPO’s own ColorOS 3.2 overlay for that OPPO experience.
The device is unmistakably OPPO though, the design of the aluminium back is plenty similar to the modern OPPO devices with some differences at the antenna lines. The fingerprint sensor, as mentioned has been moved to the back panel of the device below the camera module. That also means that you lose physical buttons up front leaving the task to be handled by on-screen buttons. You do not lose any screen real-estate though with the larger than usual FHD+ resolution. The OPPO F5 comes in either Black, Gold or Red (64GB) only and retails for MYR1,298, available nationwide.
