Speculated Name and Release Date for the iPhone 6
A lot of speculation on the launch of dates of the iPhone 6. A reliable source has spoken to MacRumors and given us a more clearer picture of the dates we need to look out for.
Mass shipments of the device from China to America are expected to happen in the last two weeks of next month and the announcement should happen beginning September. First deliveries of the phone should take place later in September, a week and a half after the launch event.
Rumours state that both the 4.7 inch version and the larger 5.5 inch version of the iPhone 6 will be launched at the same time as production problems for the latter have been resolved. Based on probable production speed and available inventory as well as the usual Apple Friday release, the dates we’re looking at September 12, 19 and 26.
However, citing Chinese media reports based on reliable sources, Apple will announce the iPhone 6 on Monday, September 15 ahead of the launch on Thursday, September 25. The report goes on to say that the official name for the 5.5 inch version of the phone will be the ‘iPhone Air’ and is priced $965 while the smaller version is priced at $850. However, this report varies from the report from another Chinese web portal which claims Apple will be launching the 4.7 inch version of the phone on Friday, September 19. Either way, we should look at the first two weeks of September for the official Apple launch.
On other news, if you’ve looked through the image gallery above, you would have seen the new photos of the iPhone 6. These pictures are the best look we’ve seen of the device so far. The dummy units and mockups we’ve seen so far don’t do justice to the genius that Jony Ive is and the mockups we have to admit are made of cheap materials and have too many design flaws to be able to replicate the real thing.
A designer has gone beyond anything we’ve seen and created 3D images of the iPhone 6 that may give the due justice that Apple deserves. The images above with the black grey black background were created Mark Pelin and provided by 9to5Mac. The whole design looks way better than the mockups we’ve seen so far. The design looks more compact and complete. The 3D schematics have been based on the leaked images. We have to admit the designs make the device a damn beautiful one indeed.
Also, the images above with the just the cover of the phone are those that show off the curved display of the iPhone 6. The edges of the of the phone according to images show the edges of display are softer and the most rounded we’ve ever seen from Apple. This is to give the phone a much smoother feel to the user’s hand. There’s one image in the gallery above that shows the iPhone 6 display next to the iPhone 5/5s display, and you can see just how much thinner it is, which will hopefully help attribute to a much thinner overall phone profile.
All in all, we can’t wait for September to come! There are just so many images building up the excitement of the phone. Hopefully, the phone lives up to the expectations and standard everyone has set for it.
