OPPO Brings Smiles to Underprivileged Children in 10 States
The Ramadan is coming to a close soon. The Ramadan season and Aidil Fitri celebrations though are about giving. Which is why OPPO has given.
More specifically, OPPO has donated cash worth MRY200,000 to different states throughout Malaysia. Their donation also includes other essential items like rice and cooking oil. To take things further they visited the Pusat Jagaan Kasih Murni to have a special ‘buka puasa’ (breaking of fast) session with the children there.
The amount of money that was presented to the children’s homes was partly thanks to the fact that OPPO’s latest R9s flagship (at Q1) have performed remarkably well by securing all three top spots as best-selling smartphone in Q1 2017. So the contributions to the homes are a sort of thank you note to Malaysians for their continuous support. Except in this case the Chinese camera phone maker is paying it forward to the children’s homes. Press release after the break.

KUALA LUMPUR, 16 JUNE – OPPO Malaysia stepped up their efforts to give back this Ramadan by bringing joy and happiness to 424 children from homes located across Klang Valley, Kota Bharu, Kedah, Johor, Perak, Kuantan, Malacca, Sabah, and Sarawak. To spread the festive spirit, OPPO provided children of the homes with essential items and monetary donation worth RM 200,000.00 in total. In the Klang Valley area, a total of 35 children received monetary donation and daily goods from OPPO Malaysia.
In the Klang Valley, OPPO visited Pusat Jagaan Kasih Murni to spread joy in the form of fun activities and a ‘buka puasa’ session. The day’s merriments began with performances by Ollie mascots. The children were entertained as the mascots danced, leaving them with smiles on their faces. Once the performance ended, OPPO presented monetary donation to the home.
“Every child is special and deserves to feel happy and secure at all times. The homes that we have visited across the nation does all that it can to ensure that the children here are well taken care of, which is why we are pleased to be able to make this donation. We believe that with our contribution, they will be able to provide for the children with more ease,” said Mr. William Fang, CEO of OPPO Malaysia.
In a move that surprised members of the homes, OPPO also announced that they would be offering job opportunities to children who are eligible to join the workforce.
“We have attained great heights in the four years that we have been in Malaysia, with the OPPO R9s recently obtaining the top 3 spot as the best-selling phone in Q1 2017 – all possible with the support of Malaysians. This humble contribution is just one way for us to give back to the community, because at OPPO, we believe that caring for the community is something that everyone can and should be involved in. Being able to give more than just money, but also opportunities, is a treasure that we must cherish. This Ramadan, we wanted to ensure that this effort will be impactful for all the children. Hopefully through this, they will eventually be able to set out and make their own positive impact by paying it forward,” Fang added.
“We are extremely thrilled with the generous contribution that OPPO has made towards our home. It will come in handy especially in getting new clothes and supplies for the children this Raya,” said Puan Rohana from Pusat Jagaan Kasih Murni.
When the time came, OPPO proceeded to have a ‘buka puasa’ session where the children and their caretakers were treated to a sumptuous meal. Ollie then made another appearance and performed for the children once more.
“The month of Ramadan is where Muslims observe fasting from dawn to dusk for 30 days. It is a time of reflection and spiritual improvement. We are honored to have been able to join the children and their guardians during the ‘buka puasa’ session,” ended Fang.
