Mobike Expands Its Malaysian Footprint with Partnership with Cyberview & Mastercard
Mobike landed in Malaysia a month ago with Setia Group bringing the bicycle sharing application to Setia Ecopark and the Setia Alam townships. Not letting the momentum slowdown, the company is bringing their unique, sturdy bicycles to Cyberjaya. Their penetration into Cyberjaya comes in partnership with Cyberview Sdn Bhd and MasterCard. The expansion is supported by the Sepang Municipal Council.
Mobike started in 2016 in Shanghai and has expanded to over 150 cities in the year since. The company offers ride sharing with a more Eco-conscious approach. In addition, the company builds its own bicycles incorporating thoughtful innovations to allow a more wholesome experience.
How Mobike Works
Each of bicycle is equipped with a tracking system and lock which is constantly connected to the internet and Mobike’s own “Magic Cube” artificial intelligence system. This means that the bicycles are constantly being monitored via GPS as well.
With this system in place, Users are able to determine the location of available bikes through the map on the app. Mobike users will need to download the app to get access to the Mobikes which are locked when not in use. The unique locking system speaks directly to the backend allowing users to unlock it by scanning the QR code on the bike. Once the lock is released the user is able to use the bike for as long as they want. They just have to lock the bike to end their session.
Users will be able to find the Mobikes at designated parking areas around the serviced areas and are encouraged to leave the bikes in legal bike parking areas.
Where can you get a Mobike?
You’ll be able to get Mobikes at designated parking areas around Cyberjaya. The Mobike bike can be rented at RM1.50 for every 30 minutes. Users will need to pay a one time refundable deposit of RM99 in the app to be able to use the service. However, for the month of October, Mobike is offering free rides with a one time deposit of RM9.
