Patents by LG shows Hybrid Watch & Smartphone
The US and Trademark Office has just approved a patent that involves the tech company, LG. It grants LG rights to another mobile phone. This doesn’t seem unusual except for the fact that after closer inspection, the design looks more like a smartwatch instead of a smartphone.
The device looks like it will be first and foremost a smartphone but can be compressed into a smartwatch form factor. Hence, the gadget will be able to take calls, text autonomously. Previously, the company was rumoured to be manufacturing a version of the G Watch with a built in SIM card.
The patent document does not contain any hardware specifications or circuit information. So, we can’t tell exactly what the details of the workings of this device are. At a design front, we see a long elongated display and thinner bezels compared to the LG G Watch. The display seems to be a little curvy as well.
There are no dimensions or measurements given nor are any design materials listed. This leads us to believe that this is merely an idea in the works with no solid plan to be produced by LG any time soon. Always remember, just because an idea has been patented, it doesn’t mean that the product will ever make it to our shelves. Sad but true as this would have been a cool gadget to get our hands on.
