Google Updates App naming Guidelines
Google has updated its app title guidelines. This move is centered at helping developers opt for better titles for their third party apps.
The guidelines are made to assist developers in segregating themselves from the apps so users won’t be led to think the developer is directly linked to the app. Google has always opted to have its own branding on the apps and make it more Android general. With the guidelines, the naming conventions are clearly described and it is further explained how the practice should expand to other platforms such as social networks.
It should be basically, “Screenshot Capture for Android” instead of “Android Screenshot Capture”. Hence, implying how the app is associated directly to Android. The latter name would lead users to think this was just an app made for the Android platform which would make it like any other app.
What do you think of the new naming guidelines? Does it really have an impact?
