LG G Flex 2 set for early 2015 release
It looks like LG has swerved away from details on their upcoming flagship with the announcement of their latest curved smartphone, the LG G Flex 2.
The LG G Flex first hit the market in late 2013 and garnered a lot of attention as being among the first of flexible smartphones. The device is crafted to be curved and equipped with a flexible screen as well. Apart from the unique form factor, the Flex is also among the first device in the mainstream market to carry the innovative ‘self-healing’ plastic. Don’t be misled, the device does not repair itself. It actually comes coated in a special type of elastic plastic that can bend and indent according to external forces and then returns to its normal state. The release of the LG G Flex was largely viewed as testing the waters of the bendy smartphone market and with the imminent release of the G Flex 2, it seems that this market is destined to grow.
No details regarding the LG G Flex 2 has been released to date. LG however did tease in their announcement that the new device will bring something “even more unique than self-healing plastic”. Now, the innovation of the self-healing plastic was eye-catching by itself so what could be more unique than that? Unfortunately, we do not know and LG seems to be keeping things under wraps for now.
When all said and done, the LG G Flex smartphones is a very interesting concept and offers something fresh in the smartphone market. We hope that the G Flex 2 will live up to teaser offered by LG. More importantly, we hope that the premium price tag slapped onto this device will be justified by more innovative features when it is released in early 2015.
