The Galaxy Note 7 Leaks are still coming! What’s more we’re hours out from their Unpacked event in New York. Let’s hope there’s still something to surprise us at the Unpacked event after their extremely leaky run in the media.
This time leaks are focusing on the S-Pen – the one feature which was kept relatively under wraps. It looks like the S-Pen will be picking up a few enhancements this time around. It was teased in earlier leaks by a Samsung executive that the S-Pen would be getting some very compelling features. This leak points to the signature feature getting Translate, Magnify and Glance features.
As per their names, the translate and magnify features of the S-pen will allow users to easily translate text or get the meaning of foreign phrases simply by hovering the S-Pen over the text. Magnify will allow users to zoom into specific areas of the screen. This has been a long awaited feature with the avid Note users.
The Glance feature on the other hand, allows users to jump in between apps. This essentially brings multitasking between apps to the S-Pen in the Galaxy Note 7. Though not much is known about the feature now, it looks like it will increase productivity features on the Note series.
The biggest feature that is coming to the Galaxy Note 7’s S-Pen is the ability to use the S-Pen underwater. This ties in to rumours of the Note 7 getting the same IP68 certification as the S7 edge and S7.
Another rumour surfacing is that the Note 7 will bring along with it the capability to manipulate the resolution of the screen taking it resolutions as low as 720p HD. This feature comes as part of Samsung’s new implementation of their power saving mode. The new Power Saving mode apparently comes with multiple tiers which allow users to not only manipulate the maximum brightness, background data usage and device performance but also allows the user to change the resolution.
It looks like the Galaxy Note 7 will be available around the mid of August with international carriers such as Verizon, SPRINT and T-Mobile leaking planograms and preorder details ahead of the launch. It looks like Verizon is gearing up for preorders starting August 3 and a device launch on August 19. According to a leaked report, it looks like T-Mobile and Sprint customers will be able to get a free Gear Fit 2 with their purchases.
On the local front, we’ve only seen Maxis mobile open their registration of interest portal for the Note 7. So far, the other carriers have been silent.
We’re mere hours away from Samsung Unpacked in New York! Stay tuned for the announcement!
