CES 2015: LG Announces the G Flex 2!
LG first dabbled into flexible displays on their devices with the LG G Flex back in 2013. Their foray with the LG G Flex proved more popular with the public compared to Samsung’s Galaxy Round. It looks like this year, they will be following up their efforts with the G Flex 2.
Rumours of the G Flex 2 started circulating towards the end of last year. However, LG took the opportunity to launch the device over at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.
LG claims that the curve which the LG G Flex came with made the smartphone a device which is more ergonomic in every way. In fact, they go so far as to say that the curve makes it easier for users to use the device. The G Flex 2 is no different, it comes with the same curvature and comes with monster specifications.
The LG G Flex 2 will be powered by a 64-bit Octa-core Snapdragon 810 clocked at 2.0 GHz with 2GB or 3GB of RAM. It will also be equipped with 16GB or 32GB of internal memory with microSD expansion. The G Flex 2 will be coming with a 5.5-inch flexible FullHD 1080p P-OLED display with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. On the optics end, the G Flex 2 will be coming with a 13-MegaPixel camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and also LG’s laser Autofocus which we first saw on their flagship G3. It will also be coming with a 2.1-MegaPixel front facing camera. It will come with WiFi 802.11 b/g/n/ac , Near field communication (NFC) as well as Bluetooth 4.1. All of this will be in a 149.1mm x 75.3mm x 7.1-9.4mm body weighing only 152g. Of course, the G Flex 2 will be coming with Android 5.0 Lollipop with LG’s customisations.
Aside from the curve and amazing specifications, one of the biggest selling points of the original G Flex was its self healing back. This feature comes back in the G Flex 2, better than ever. The self healing features on the G Flex 2 react quicker healing as fast as scratches can appear.
The G Flex 2 is expected to arrive in 2 months in South Korea with American carriers AT&T and Sprint already announcing availability. It will be available in 2 flavours: That said, there is no word yet on pricing.
