Apple EarPod with Bone Conduction and Noise Cancellation Patented
With the recent acquisition of Beats by Apple, we were expecting major headphone plans to surface any time soon. And it seems it has!
Apple knows that Beats was known for its design and less for its audio quality. We’d expect the Cupertino company to work on a plan to fix this flaw but I think we stand corrected.
Apple has opted to file for a patent that looks to improve its existing EarPod designed headphones rather than focus on Beats gadgets. The new EarPod patent looks to bring new sensors to headphones so as to ensure better sound quality and noise cancellation accuracy.
According to the documents, there is an accelerometer that will detect skull vibrations as the user is talking. In effect, the headphones should be able to separate speech from noise. Along with this, the patent describes additional microphones including an embedded mic in the wire that will help isolate noise and detect speech.
All these plans seem hopeful as Apple really doesn’t have good headphones in the market right now. However, just because its patented, doesn’t mean we’ll see this gadget anytime soon and we were expecting to see some Beats plans by now. Well, we’ll just have to wait a little longer maybe.
