Adobe Systems Incorporated is a name which the creative industry readily recognises. The company behind the popular Adobe line of applications has long been a go to for professionals in the creative industry for robust and flexible content creation experience. Their signature suite of applications, the Adobe Creative Cloud, provides applications for all aspects of content creation from visual image editors, video editors and sound engineering.
Being one of the largest companies involved in creative technologies, the company is now enabling institutions of higher education to provide real world and relevant training to their students through their Creative Cloud suite. These partnerships and programs have long been available to univeristies, polytechics and colleges around the globe.
In a first for Malaysia, the multinational is now partnering with one of the country’s largest higher education institutions, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). This partnership will see the Adobe Creative Cloud suite being made available to UiTM students across all 12 state and 21 satellite campuses across Malaysia begining with their main campus in Shah Alam. It will give UiTM’s student body of about 165,00 members access to industry leading software during their education tenure.
The partnership comes on the heels of the Malaysian Government’s announcement of it’s target of RM33 billion (USD$7.45 billion) being contributed to the nation’s Gross National Income (GNI) by the year 2020. Adobe Asia Pacific Education Director, Wayne Weisse, affirms that this is just the first step in the company’s plans for Malaysia. Adobe Asia Pacific is currently in talks with the Malaysian Government to implement similar programs in other Public Universities and Polytechics nationwide.
In addition to this, three of UiTM’s faculty members have become members of Adobe’s education industry collaborative programs. Dr Sharkawi Che Din and Associate Professor Dr Azhar Abd Jamil are members of the Adobe Education Leaders program while Dr Zainuddin Ibrahim is now a member of the Adobe Campus Leader program. Both programs enable educators from across the globe to collaborate and exchange ideas in the application of Adobe’s Creative Cloud in academic programs. Through these programs, Adobe is looking to highlight and honor innovative educators who have done so.
